Malty, toasty, strong and sweet. This traditional Scotch Lowland ale is one of our most popular hearty winter brews. Available winter.

Dark brown, almost black with a thin lacing of head. Aroma is slight, some roasted malt and a little musty. Flavor is a little sweet followed by a fairly strong bitterness though it doesn’t linger at all. Mouthfeel is very thin, it should have a fuller body. Overall, not bad but the lack of body really hurts this one.

Dark copper-amber pour with a 1" off-white head. Nose is dark fruit (this oddly reminds me of a little red dried fruit from Chinese groceries that I can’t recall the name of...) Fairly sweet and sticky body. A bit disappointing, though part of that may be that it’s August and I’m drinking a Scotch Ale.

a decent scotch ale, but nothing special. This beer is just ok. I’ve had a few by these guys and this one is up there pretty far. Hope to be able to purchase again sometime in the future. Definitely need to check out more.

Just your average scotch ale. Not a lot to brag home about. Tasty and smooth for 7% but just like all scotch ales... Missing something.

Big bottle into tulip. Dark ruby with minimal head. Oak resinous aroma. Sweet raisin malty oaky taste. Slightly astringent aftertaste. Ok but not great ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From a 22 oz bottle this poured a rich red-amber color with a beige head. No appreciable lacing. Nose of caramel malts, and ripe dark fruit. Medium body. Flavor oaf rich malts and a little bitterness in the finish. Good.

Bottle@ trailer. Clear mahogany color with light tan head. Toffee, caramel, earthy dirt, toast aromas. Medium bodied. Nice lightly sweet, toasted dark caramel, dark fruit, dark bread flavors___mild earthy mineral finish----good.

Bomber bought at the brewery during RBWG. This is quite dark brown and has a beige head. A rich malt and toffee aroma that is big. Some earth and European hops are tasted along with the malts. The hops bring some fruit and are authentic here. They tend to grow and add some spice. I also taste toffee and something almost like candy. Dark fruit is tasted late along with some toasted bread. Not a favored style for me but this is a strong example.
