3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 12/20 Cybercat (1911) - USA - MAY 30, 2011
Comes out of the tap a semi-transparent coppery amber with a frothy, fine-bubbled, pale buttery-tan head. Aroma is fairly strong and malty with hints of spice and herbs. Malty flavor has clove, herbal and caramel hints for a well-rounded and satisfying taste. Texture is fairly smooth with an average tingle to it. Although this is advertised as an autumn beer, it is fine any time of year.

Had on tap. Arrived a clear medium brown with a small head. Good lacing, though. Smelled quite citrusy with pineapple and grapefruit being noticeable. Flavor had touches of caramel malt with quite a bit of fruity esters. There was a tartness present as well. I saw that they brew this with a kolsch yeast which explains the fruityness. Not really my cup of tea.

22oz bottle split with Anndiesel. Filtered copper-orange. Steady off-white head. Doughy, fruity aroma..nice and fresh..despite it being the end of November. Classic German malt and noble hops. Really well done, true to style, but still a touch original. This is really World Class stuff, a great Ale, that still manages to have some really sublime malt and yeast tones.
3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 Braudog (4607) - Hampton, Virginia, USA - OCT 9, 2011
Draft at the Bier Garden in Asheville. Bronze pour. Drinks with a malty base and sharp bite, very even keeled. Side by side with Duck Rabbit’s maerzen, this comes across more even. Good stuff. (#4326, 10/7/2011)
3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 BiochemProf (179) - Boone, North Carolina, USA - SEP 28, 2011
Clear copper/ruby pour with a thin ivory head. Interesting mix of malt and hops in the aroma. Roasty caramel and bread with hints of earthy pine. Malty flavor up front with a crisp bitter finish. Medium bodied and well carbonated. Really good beer. The bitterness balances the malt nicely. I find many Octoberfest style beers to be a bit cloying. Very drinkable and enjoyable beer. Looking forward to trying more from French Broad.

This poured a lighter orange color with a white head. aroma was of lightly toasted malts, light caramel and even some dusty hops. Flavor was very well rounded for this style, nice smooth caramel and biscuit dflavors. A very good Oktoberfest.
