500 ml bottle. BB 12/10. From landbierparadies.com.
Clear hazelnut colour with a huuuuge fluffy white head. Nut, chocolate, wood, dryness, malt and mild hops in the aroma. The flavour is very dry nutty and woody with chestnut, milk chocolate, hoppy bitterness, malt and mild citric notes. Absolutely tasty. This is one of the tastiest beers with Lager written on the label. Very soft carbonation. Nutty and hoppy aftertaste.

Bottle. Head is initially large, frothy/creamy, off-white, mostly lasting. Body is light amber. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain, cookie), lightly to moderately hoppy (apricot, flowers), with light notes of mandarin orange and peach. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. Another solid entry from this brewery. Nice fruity nose, but kind of quiet as with their other beers. Nicely balanced and textured. I wish these brews had a more lively nose, but at least they’re clean and tasty.

TAR (2349) - Lafayette, Colorado, USA - APR 18, 2013
Bottle, best by 12/12, consumed in Nov. 2012: Copper with blonde highlights. Persistent fluffy foam. Vivid and complex maltiness entices the olfactory with candied pecan and breadcrust aromas. Hints of apricot and licorice hoppiness, and trace mineral. Very clean. Natural fluffiness to the carbonation, with some firm edges. Sweetly malty and captivatingly dextrinous from the get-go, with a silky toffee-glazed nut overlay. Vibrant hayllike pils malt spawns a bouncy, delicately sweet vanilla wafer cookie suggestion. Ample apricot hop character mirrors the mouthwatering malt. Closes dry and crisply structured, with hints of sugar-cookie kissed with an earthy breadcrust and candied fennel push which tempers the residual sugars. A charmingly rustic, fully malty kellerbier awash with well-structured dextrins.

gushing bottle, the first gusher from Germany I’ve seen among semi-fresh bottles. yeast-heavy nose is muddled and yogurty. best by Dec 2012. spearmint hop spice in the nose along with some bready and doughy dark malt. silky and creamy mouthfeel with lightly toasted grains and light to medium huskiness. muddled yeast flavor with light acidity and somewhat excessive pastiness. probably not in the best shape, but other than the light acid, the body is enjoyable creamy and soft.

Bottle MHD 24.12.(12). Sweet malty nose, pale and a little dusty with some caramel. Hazy orange body with a flimsy beige head. Spicy taste, very crisp medium body with caramel and toffee, lighter nuts and earth, low-medium bitterness but a little high for style. I don’t like direction the underneath sourness is leading, and I don’t like the harsh tooth-coating sugar and caramel. A little green apple here, too.

Bottle (Danke Kölschtrinker!): Dark amber color with a brown, rocky head. Flavor is malty, light notes of caramel, some roasty notes and hops. Pleasant.
