Draught at Stöhrenkeller, Bamberg. Clear golden, small head. Deep buttery nose. Soft, sweetish malt dried out by grassy hops. Wonderfully well structured malt superbly balanced by the grassy hops. Long but mild bitterness. Orthodox but superb, A fantastic beer, almost iconic in it’s simplicity.

My Bottom Line :
Minutious toast is imbued with citrusy, spicy refinement in this fabulously drinkable, dry lager.

Further Personal Perceptions :
-A fluffy head of foam protects the clear pale golden shine.
-The nose and flavor profile are multifaceted; very appealing for such a discreet brew.
-The mouthfeel is super clean and supremely drinkable. This is surely a marvelous session lager at the brewery.
-The prickly, forced carbonation fits the flavor profile perfectly, contrarily to their Lagerbier in which effervescence was overwhelming.

Friedel rulezzzz

Bottle bought @ Landbierparadies. Pours hazy yellow with a frothy white head that leaves some sparse sticky trace in the glass. Smell is slightly malty and floral with freshly baked white bread, crackers, cereal, hay, dried flowers, minerals and lemon zest. Taste is tiny sweet, bitter, tiny malty and flowers. Mouthfeel is tiny sparkling, tiny crisp, slightly round, tiny astringent and light to medium bodied. Finish is tiny sweet and slightly bitter with white bread, cereal, hay, minerals and lemon peal. Lovely drinkable pilsner-like beer. Highly enjoyable!

draft @ brewery. Golden and clear with gorgeous doily lacing. Aroma is very clean, with cereal and granola. Is a bit thin and watery in the palate. Clean, almost too clean. No farm flavors but every once in a while the hops come out and there are some nice blonde wood flavors too.

Bottle. Head is initially average sized, frothy, white, mostly lasting. Body is light yellow. Aroma is lightly malty (toasted grain), moderately hoppy (herbs, flowers), with a light note of lime zest. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly acidic, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, lightly acidic, lightly to moderately bitter. Medium body, velvety texture, lively carbonation. Another nice one from Friedel...they’re not quite "wow" level beers but they are very pleasant and clean. Good stuff.

Bottle looks very simple but good. Beer in the glass zippy, deep golden, nice head. Starts mild dry, malty background, fruity hints of lemon. A little bit metallically, not too much. Finish well balanced, still mild. Good one!

UPDATED: FEB 9, 2008 From the tap (in the brewery-tap) Golden colour, thin foam; fresh hoppy (grassy) aroma; sweetish malty beginning, bitter-sweet taste, ending in a short, hoppy aftertaste, low carbonated, but refreshing....

(On tap) Clear, pale, pilsener golden with a dense, creamy, white head. Extremely floral aroma - almost perfumy, yoy could be tricked to believe that coriander was added. Medium body with sweet malt. Lightly hoppy finish, but this beer is completely dominated by the great aroma hops. 091106

Golden, sparkly. Nice thick head. Deep pale malt and noble hop aroma. Light to moderate bitterness but lots of bready pale malts. Good balanced beer straddling the line between a helles and a pils. Late diacetyl emerging.
