bierkoning (8109) - La Tropica, - SEP 25, 2002
UPDATED: SEP 7, 2007 Drunk in Brauerei Gasthof Zum Blauen Bären in Neustadt. From tap. Just a bit soapy aroma. Flavor starts malty, but then the hops step forward. Some orange fruitiness. Re-rate, also from tap: malty flavor, firmly hopped with flowery hops. Malt and a hint of butter in the aroma. Blonde beer. Medium bodied and fairly dry. Good helles.

It’s hazy golden with a huge, creamy head. The aroma has notes of sourness and malt. The flavor has a light sweetness and it’s very sour between very sour lemon and sour milk - down the drain...

bottled. sometimes i wonder if most of bavarias helleses are just made at one big brewery and just given different labels. anyways, amber with a thin head; aroma of hay and caramel; light tinny bitterness. yawn. i’m just trying to imagine a blind helles tasting, i think i’d fall asleep after half an hour

(bottle) Clear, golden colour with a blond and short foamy head. Mildly grainy malty aroma with with a doughy touch and herbal hoppy spots. Slightly bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with a crisp mouthfeel. Slightly grainy pale malty taste with good amount of herbal hops; quite dry and soft malty finish with present herbal hops, unfortunately also with notes of metal. 19.VI.10

Bottled. A hazy golden beer with a lazing beige head. The aroma is very buttery combined with a note of malt. The flavor is sweet with strong notes of butter, leading to a dry finish where notes of both butter and straw lingers around.

Bottle: Pale golden coloured, thin lacing white head; sweet-malty nose with a distinctive touch of hop-resins in the background; robust sweetish flavour, influenced by a light bitterness; hops and hop-resin in the finish, accompanied by sweet malt. A good, quite hoppy Helles !

Papsoe (22983) - Frederiksberg, DENMARK - OCT 10, 2005
(Bottle 50 cl) Pale golden with a small head. Soft, lightly malty with the hops adding more aroma than bitterness. Quite a sympathetic brew. 030102
