Dark brown colored, fast diminishing small head on top, soft carbonated. Malt and clay nose. Slightly sour - like sour milk - taste at first. Grainy in the middle with a offturning iron finish.

Grima (1573) - Saarburg, Rhineland-Palatinate, GERMANY - FEB 11, 2011
The beer in glass is dark bronze-colored with a good foaming. The smell is very subtle and restrained malty sweet and roasty. Starts sour malty, with good roasted caramel and light bonds. The aftertaste shows yeasty and sour, long-lasting. The further course gets eben more sourish, and the full bodied malt aroma gets a slight bready. Unusual, but delicious Dunkles!

Schroppfy (2335) - Łódż, Warsaw, Poland; Michigan, Ohio, USA - NOV 10, 2010
No best buy date on the bottle that I can find. Smell is of soured molasses and caramel, a bit woody. Taste is sweet and sour, with earthy elements. Relatively thin. I kind of like the raisiny taste elements, and I love the ABV, not even remotely noticeable, but this is just not a hearty beer and most people will not like the sourness. Slightly weird dunkel. Bottle-conditioned!

Bottled. An amber beer with a thin beige head. The aroma has notes of malt, straw, and caramel. The flavor is sweet with notes of lactic acid, cardboard, caramel, and straw. Not good - I think it is off.

Bottle 50cl. w. swing top.
Clear light to medium amber color with a small to average, frothy - fizzy, fair lacing, mostly lasting, off-white head. Aroma is light to moderate malty, roasted, bread, sour malt notes. Flavor is moderate sweet and sour milk with a average to long duration. Body is light to medium, texture is watery, carbonation is soft. [20081004]

50 cL bottle, courtesy of Papsoe/Ungstrup. Pours almost clear and golden orange with a diminished white head. Mild citric and fruity aroma. Mild acidic to citric slight milky. Somewhat off and with little of what it may have been intended to be like. Rerate needed.

MoritzF (7402) - Bochum, GERMANY - NOV 3, 2008
(swing top bottle) Hazy, amber colour with a massive and lacing, cream-coloured foamy head. Sweet and slightly yeasty toast-malty aroma with notes sour dough, vanilla and a touch of herbal hops. Light-bitter flavour, light to medium bodied with an almost fizzy, not overly well-matured carbonation. Minimal yeasty and solid toast-malty taste with shy notes of toffee and herbal hops; moderately dry and bitter finish, malt-accented with rounded hops-character. Not one of the authentic Zoigl-beers but nevertheless a drinkable unfiltered Dunkel; best when sampled very fresh (14.X.08).

Bottle. OK spicy aroma. Clear grey amber colour. Small head. Citric flavour, some malt. Citric finish, almost getting faintly lemony.
