3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
Layers of white foam decorate this murky to the point of seeming milky golden ale. Piney, flowery and orangey hop aromas jump at the nose despite the potential lack of freshness. They evolve in a mineral setting, one in which the malts feel round and relatively filling despite the strong carbonation, but also one in which they ironically feel relatively dry and thatís despite a noticeable crystal malt presence. That last sentence would usually be a positive trait for me, but it all comes with a certain roughness to the bitterness that borders astringency and cuts the malt deployment with a rudeness that is not soft-edged at all. Warming up, alcohool creeps into the aromatic profile significantly and thatís not necessarily desirable in a sub-8% brew. Iím sure it would have been more pleasant if fresher, but itís still quite a few months before it reaches the expiration date market on the bottle. So all in all, nicely aromatic and with hop varietals I enjoy, but a bit rough on the delivery and as expensive as it is, not something Iím very inclined to revisit.

Germany is coming slow with the IPA but in the last years form the feeling people have recognized that the craft beer is also needed and can be done in Germany. I think Fritz is one of the pioneers of this movement and I think the first german brewer who made a tremendous good IPA. Due to I am new to the beer tasting descriptin I think that the user hobsch described exactly the same feeling I had with this IPA

Medium bodied with bite, fine carbonation, dry finale with semi aggressive hop bitterness.
So so for style, lacks a bit of depth and overly sweet.

Bottle cheers to Leighton. Pours golden orange with a small white head. Nose is heavy stewed raisins, moderate date, quite resinous and doughy with a weird vanilla icing note which works ok. Woody caramel and a touch tangy as it warms. Sticky crŤme caramel in the taste with light spice and tang, orange, piney hops, dates and currants. Solid
