Cask (Charters, Peterborough)
Slightly rabbit-foody aroma. Does charters keep rabbits in its cellar room? Deep orange, small loose head. Fairly simple bitter taste, but still pretty dull. A touch sweet. Refreshing palate, but still dull. Actually adequate as a beer, but nothing more. Better than most of the other beers we had here, that’s about the most positive thing I can say.

Cask conditioned handpump Racehorse Northampton 18/09/1 A deep brown coloured beer with a whitish head and lacing. A fruity malty beer. Lots of berry sweetness. A bit of astringency in the nose but pretty tasty with a good body and a lingering finish.

Cask conditioned at The Ostrich, Peterborough. Amber with no head. This proved to be slightly tart in character, fruity, apple and plums come to mind, flattish, late sweetish toffee note. Ok.

Cask at the The Sun Inn Summer Beer Festival, Kelvedon. Hazy deep gold beer, suddy off white head. Fresh smooth palate, dry. Mild orange marmalade with an interesting touch of strawberry. Tiny bit of sherbet. Light dry finish.
