Bottled at Monk’s Café, Stockholm. Cloudy deep golden, minimal head. Milky lemony nose. Dry and tart, quite hoppy with lots of grass and grapefruit. Somewhat smokey with citric bitterness that starts early. Bears signs of infection in it’s infancy.

UPDATED: SEP 19, 2008 [500ml bottle direct from the brewery, relabelled as WheresThePath Trail Ale for my brother’s 30th Birthday under the brewery’s superb bottle personalisation service]. 16/5/2008: Moderate but lasting head, soft carbonation, slightly bitter with a continental pilsener flavour but with sweet syrupyness coming through in the aftertaste. Re-rate 18/9/2008: Poured gold with a ridiculously large head this time (has it been fermenting somewhat in the intervening few months?!). Initially grass and hay, developing through honey into a sharp/sour grapefruit flavour. Lots of malt in the aftertaste, a little bitterness and some sweet syrup left on the tongue. Interesting and nicer than I remember - have upped my rating accordingly.

Gravity, Merton Winter Beer Festival. Pale gold, sticky white cap. Spicy honey and yeast aroma. Sweet toasty honey flavor. Simple, unpretentious, pleasant.

Fin (7278) - Merton, Oxfordshire, England, Oxfordshire, ENGLAND - FEB 18, 2008
Cask , gravity at Merton Winter Beer Festival Feb 08 Poured golden with a white thin bubbly head and the slightest hint of haze. Aroma was of warm wet straw, not at all unpleasant, but not what I expected. Sweet flushing citus to start but the sweetness outstayed it’s welcome a bit and rather held back what could have been an even better, hoppier beer with good fruit bite.
