COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Dark de Triomphe is our fabulous stout. Rich, dry, full-bodied with a thick and creamy head. The bitterness comes from a large addition of ‘Challenger’ hops in the copper. This is a hugely popular beer with customers and barstaff alike, so much so that not one drop of any other stout is sold in any of our pubs!

On tap at Le Frog & Rosbif, Paris on 18th November 2011. Dark brown with pale brown head. Aroma is of coffee, toast and freshly baked bread. In-mouth flavours are malt, caramel, mollasses and slight sourness. Aftertaste grass and spice - quite short-lived.

Davvero una buona stout, forse - e mi ha incuriosito leggere la descrizione che dice tutt’altro - troppo dolciona e cioccolatosa.

06.05.2011. On tap at the Brewpub Frog and Rosbif in Paris. Dark brown colour with tan head. This beer is rather rich with nice malty aroma with flavours of dark malts. There is also some good bitterness and some malt sweetness.

Draught, Frog & Princess. Dark brown-red body, clear, thick slightly off white head that is almost nitro like. Soft sweet malty nose, light coffee, light fruitiness. Empty taste, ending bitter, some fruity sweetness shows up too. The roasty bitterness, while vague, sticks for awhile, mostly in the AT. The taste didn’t turn up at first but got there later on. A pleasant(ish), but too watery and unimpressive beer,

[3304-20100807] Tap. Mild chocolate and roast grains aroma. Clear, dark brown amber body with a medium-lasting creamy light tan head. Roasted grainy malt flavour has hints of coffee and toasted bandaid. Medium body is a little thin. Surprising but not wonderful.

UPDATED: JAN 1, 2012 dark with touches of ruby around the edges, and was topped off with a loose head. too damned cold though. Virtually no nose to speak of. No, I didn’t have a cold, I could smell virtually nada - perhaps a hint of Tesco Value instant coffee, but nothing else. Body was thin and insipid, although there were some roasted malt flavours, but this was basically dull and lifeless, and I refused point blank to finish the pint. Update - 3 years later and this is an infinitely better beer than when I had it in 2008! All the standard stout coffee and chocolate tastes and aromas are there aplenty. Good to see improvement!

On tap a pint at the pub. A dark ale with typical stout creamy head. Aroma is heavy on roasted malt, whole aroma is intense but body is low. The beer is lees creamy and with low toasted notes. Pleasant beer anyway but far from a UK stout.
