Cask (handpump) at the Maltings, York, October 2006. Reddish copper colour. Thin off-white head. Nice condition. Marmalade and orange peel in the aroma. Fairly malty flavour with some earthy balancing hops. Very dry and fairly bitter mouthfeel. Plenty of weight in the mouthfeel. A well constructed best bitter with a good range of elements in decent balance.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 11/20
[500ml bottle from Larners, Holt, Norfolk] Pours red-amber with an enormous, creamy lasting head. A bit too fizzy at first, but this fades to leave a smooth, easy-drinking pint. Malt dominates, with hints of blackcurrant. Increasing orange/citrus in the finish. Very little bitterness. Nothing actually bad here, but itís pretty forgettable stuff.
