Bottle. Pours a very dark brown with small beige head. The aroma is strong oak, vanilla, roast. Medium mouthfeel with coffee bean, sweet vanilla, very nice.

Hand-bottle... Clear dark brown ale with a small, creamy, beige head. Great retention. Smells fantastic - French vanilla coffee. Medium to full-bodied with kicked-back carbonation. The flavor shows major infection, but itís not unpleasant. Clean, acute acidity. Still, the chocolate and vanilla coffee would be so great if front and center and not overshadowed by the sourness. Lightly tart, mocha finish. I held on to this one too long, I guess.

Growler shared at the 8th Richmond Industry Gathering, 12/1/13. Pours a clear dark brown color with a thin tan head. Decent head retention. Aroma of caramel, chocolate, mild spiciness. The taste is caramel, mild nuts and spice. Thin-medium bodied. A little weak.

Bottle shipped down by the brewery for RBWG. Black pour with a small khaki head. Rich coffee, vanilla, and some chocolate coming through in the aroma. Slightly sweet flavor with coffee, vanilla, and a bit of dry roasty malts lingering. Not bad.

Brown pour with tan head and lace. Aroma is black coffee, roasted malt and almost a black patent malt bitter. Espresso, light chocolate, and a pretty hard malt bitter. Medium bodied and fizzy. Solid

Bottle at RBWG late night lobby tasting. Pours dark muddy brown with a small tan head. Nose is sweet, creamy, vanilla, french roast sweet smelling coffee from one of those carafes. Flavor is similar, a little on the sweet side for the style and my tastes. Fairly reminiscent of Victory at Sea which I also didnít really care for.
