Fin (2164), Merton, Oxfordshire, England May 8, 2007 Picked up from The Chequers Inn, Binham, Norfolk, 28-04-07. This poured an intense black with a head that was about a billimetre (if there is such a measurement) it was miniscule but what there was loooked tan in colour. Some cloves and citrus notes led to a liquorice and spicey tasting beer with cinnamon and cloves showing plus subtle orange flavours no doubt from the zest of 40 oranges apparently added to the brew. Finishes with a smoky slightly sour finish but quite nice and slightly unusual. cgarvieuk (2302), Edinburgh, Scotland Mar 6, 2007 Deep black, with a strong interesting rich malt, but followed by medicinal sweet woddyness ok but fails in end DJMonarch (4091), Northwich, Cheshire, England Feb 10, 2007 Cask Handpump at the New Century Hall, Manchester 17/01/2007
Small tan head. Rich and spicy aroma. Black strong in alcohol and spicy cinnamon flavoured with some dryness and bitterness in a crisp roast finish.
