Front Street Tsar

Picked up from The Chequers Inn, Binham, Norfolk, 28-04-07. This poured an intense black with a head that was about a billimetre (if there is such a measurement) it was miniscule but what there was loooked tan in colour. Some cloves and citrus notes led to a liquorice and spicey tasting beer with cinnamon and cloves showing plus subtle orange flavours no doubt from the zest of 40 oranges apparently added to the brew. Finishes with a smoky slightly sour finish but quite nice and slightly unusual.

Deep black, with a strong interesting rich malt, but followed by medicinal sweet woddyness ok but fails in end

Cask Handpump at the New Century Hall, Manchester 17/01/2007 Small tan head. Rich and spicy aroma. Black strong in alcohol and spicy cinnamon flavoured with some dryness and bitterness in a crisp roast finish.
