FatPhil (2362), Espoo, Finland Sep 24, 2007 Cask (Peterborough BF 2007)
Rich brown, no head. Sweet sour aroma - maybe a little winey and raisiny. Taste is also a little sour, but but very rich, dark malt. hughie (2262), Bedford, Bedfordshire, England Aug 24, 2007 Cask at Peterborough BF ’07. Dark red brown with a slight haze. Malty dark fruit aroma. Plummy taste with dates, ash and a medium bitter finish. Pretty good. Fin (2357), Merton, Oxfordshire, England May 3, 2007 Cask at The Chequers Inn, Binham, Norfolk 28-04-07. Poured very much reddy brown colour with medium white head. Fruity malty aroma, followed up by a really punchy malty and fruity taste that dominated. This was a quality strong ale that whilst not particularly complex in any way really made you sit and look at it after each sip and think that it was a damn good pint. Pub (4119), Banbury, Oxfordshire, England Sep 1, 2006 Cask conditioned at The Chequers Inn, Binham, Norfolk. Reddy brown beer with big white head, served incidentally by the prettiest blonde barmaid I’ve met in a long time, that smile will be with me for good I think. Anyway, this is a strong malty beer with an overiding hoppiness. There is a fruity element with pear on the front of the tongue. A very decent beer, or am I marking the Barmaid, no she would have been 4.9. StueyD (590), King’s Lynn, Norfolk, Norfolk, England Aug 23, 2006 A dark reddish brown with a weak white head. a malty, toasy nose with hints of caramel toffee and liquorice. The taste is bitter, toasted malt, then a smooth caramel, toffee and liquorice flavour comes through to a smooth and malty finish. (Cask @ Charters Bar, Peterborough, before the PBF06 opened).
