Cask (Peterborough BF 2007) Rich brown, no head. Sweet sour aroma - maybe a little winey and raisiny. Taste is also a little sour, but but very rich, dark malt.

Cask at The Chequers Inn, Binham, Norfolk 28-04-07. Poured very much reddy brown colour with medium white head. Fruity malty aroma, followed up by a really punchy malty and fruity taste that dominated. This was a quality strong ale that whilst not particularly complex in any way really made you sit and look at it after each sip and think that it was a damn good pint.

Cask conditioned at The Chequers Inn, Binham, Norfolk. Reddy brown beer with big white head, served incidentally by the prettiest blonde barmaid I’ve met in a long time, that smile will be with me for good I think. Anyway, this is a strong malty beer with an overiding hoppiness. There is a fruity element with pear on the front of the tongue. A very decent beer, or am I marking the Barmaid, no she would have been 4.9.

A dark reddish brown with a weak white head. a malty, toasy nose with hints of caramel toffee and liquorice. The taste is bitter, toasted malt, then a smooth caramel, toffee and liquorice flavour comes through to a smooth and malty finish. (Cask @ Charters Bar, Peterborough, before the PBF06 opened).

Bottled. Oh the joys of an infected English BC beer. This took a good 20 minutes for me to be able to pour the full bottle into a pint glass. It then looked and smelt like a Flemish sour - very hazy dark red with a massive, masive rocky, spongy off-white head, and an aroma of wood and fusty sourness. It actually smelled quite nice. Additionally there were sour funky tastes to it. But there shouldn’t have been. This was true infection and the finish was tinny and thin. I really feel there might be a decent beer beyond the infection, and the mix of hops sounds fun. But this was just tainted.

Cask Stillage at the Assembly Rooms, Tamworth 10/09/2005 Mid brown colour slightly strong in alcohol and rich on the palate. Some bitterness in a lasting malt finish.
