3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20
500 ml bottle. Served in a stange glass, the beer pours a clear straw gold color with about an inch white head that stays around for a long time. There’s also a good amount of lacing. Aroma is mostly grainy/bready malt, along with some light herbalness and fruit, mainly grapes. The brew tastes like grainy/bready malt, light grassy/herbal hops, and some grapes. Mouthfeel/body is light, it’s crisp, refreshing and easy to drink. It’s well carbonated, too. Not a bad beer at all, I’d buy this again at $3.49 a bottle.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
On tap at Gourmet Haus Staudt. It pours a clear yellow color with a nice white head. The aroma is pleasant with fresh bread, lemongrass and earthy hops and a hint of pear fruit. The flavor is very dry with lots of bread and a mild spicy noble hop presence. This seemed to have a heavier hop presence than other German Kolsch I’ve had. Maybe because it was on draft... Other than that, it lacked the mothfeel and balance that I’ve appreciated from other versions. Still refreshing and good.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Light golden color from bottle pour..actively carbonated with large bubbles rising..nose is composed of a slightly honey..lemon..herbal floral tea concoction..mouthfeel is crisp on the outset..quite light bodied with a drying close..impressed with this as my first German kolsch and definitely will be seeking out some others to compare this to..mild and would go nicely with many food offerings..nice summer ale/lager hybrid..

4.4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 5/5 OVERALL 17/20
Bottle. Ah ... my old friend from when I lived in the Eifel. This was my "fridge beer," my weekly crate pickup. I’m glad to find it Stateside, unbelievingly realizing I’ve never entered notes on it. The prototype koelsch IMHO, this is bright golden, sunny and inviting, with a thin top. I can guzzle this tasty, light brew, brimming with Germanic smoothness and a fun disposition laden with peach, light bread and and pure malt finish. (#5177, 7/26/2013)

2.5 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20
UPDATED: AUG 24, 2013 I drank it because I wanted something fresh and drinkable that wasn’t a pilsner. That’s exactly what this is, thirst-quenching and a little bit better than the average pilsner.
