Bottle. A - Light/clear golden color. A bit below average sized white head. S - Some grain (corn smell) and malt sweetness. Some grassy/floral hops. Also smells of golden fruit. T - Base is mostly grainy malt, that has a corn sweetness. Then along with that is a lot of golden fruit (apple pear mostly with some lemon). Slight grassy and floral hops, but those are mostly covered by the malt and fruit. M - Light and refreshing. Good carbonation and fizzy. D - Refreshing and easy to drink. Fruity flavors make it easy to drink. Notes: Taste like an above average German pilsner with a good amount of golden fruit. Refreshing and easy to drink.

On tap at the brewpub in Köln. Pale yellow with a white head. Soft aroma of bread, malt and some grass. Refreshing taste with some fruits and hops. Quite good.

Bottle, 33 cl. Light yellow coloured. Aroma is like pilsner, somewhat hoppier, a bit like vinegar also. tastes like a pilsner, but hoppier, fruitier (apples?), dry, lots of carbonation, fresh. Finish could stay longer.

UPDATED: NOV 30, 2009 0.33 bottle. Pale, pretty golden color, with a medium head. Smelling is malty, sweety, CO2 is lively. Flavour is for me "indifferent", mild and the finish is mild-hoppy. What a pity, it was my first Kölsch-styled stuff, but it leaves nothing really impressive...

This one is average on the nose with now distinct characters. Hits the mouth with a tremedous plain yeasty bang, but then settles down in to a very light and pleasently sweet drink. Downside as well? Too sweet at that....oh how our world is controlled by sugar. Poured from bottle in Winterberg, Germany.

Very, very pale yellow. Clear liquid. Pretty big white uneven head that leaves some lacings. A very weak smell. Some malts and white bread. Faint grassy hops, a hint of lemon and some spices. Not much going on in the taste either, rather restrained. Nice spices, though. Some malty sweetness and white bread as well. Some grassy hops and resins. The finish is short and has a mineral-like touch to it. A refreshing yet restrained bitterness develops in the finish, though. Light body and plenty of lively carbonation. This is a good beer, easy to drink and refreshing. But it’s not outstanding and it’s not very exciting. Probably one for those warm summer nights. Bottle, Rehills, Newcastle. Very initially, I though this was going to be a bit disappointing, dry and thin, but, very quickly, it develops into a citrusy and refreshingly clean, well-rounded lager. Not had much experience of this style of beer, but this is pretty good.

Draught at Früh am Dom, Köln, Germany. Clear golden colour with small white head. Fruity, malty and hoppy aroma. Very refreshing aroma and flavour. Fruity soft hoppiness. Good Kölsch.

Very refreshing kolsch. Smell and taste are basic and nothing special but sometimes basic is good. Perfect on this hot summer day while grilling on the back porch.
