3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
UPDATED: JAN 6, 2009 2008-12-03, draught at Pig’s Ear Festival 2008, London, 6-3-6-3-12=30
Blond color. Malt aroma, with a nice fresh grash touch, still present in the flavor but lighter. The final has a residual sweetness. I expected something more crispy and stylish...

Blond color. Aroma of rice and hop. Simple taste, dry, some ending sweetness. Uninteresting.

Great! Just discovered this wee gem at a great new bar that’s selling all sorts of German madness. I’m sure there will be better brews along the waybut for now I can’t get enough of this one. VERY crisp, perfect after a big dinner.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
I’ve had this before in the summer and prefered it then. But this is still a good beer. Save it for the summer.

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
draught Completely clear-gold; very dense head, little yellowish tint. Herb, slightly bitter nose, dusty-grainy background. Soft-sweet, mineral water-like taste. In the mean time, soft wafts of aroma hops, and a light fruitiness. Light bodied, only tad of slickness, creamy texture, helped by the head. Better than the industrials, nowhere in the Päffgen-Malzmühle league.

3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
Appeance: pale yellow, bordering on green, with a firm 1/2" collar of foam.
Aroma: fresh, light, delicately hoppy, rather minor in size, but with appreciable fruity notes, which continue on the palate, once the tasting begins.
Light, but lively, happy, with a tangible tangy, citric fruit flavor, and perhaps a touch of apple or pear.
After so many American interpretations, it’s great to taste a true kolsch and know once and for all how they should taste. This is a classic, extremely downable, light in body, but with just enough flavor, sweet and lemony, to be worthwhile, and to have me wish this 500 ml bottle would never empty.
