UPDATED: FEB 28, 2009 Bottled 50cl. It pours a pale yellow beer with a white head. Lively carbonation. The nose is a bit weak, but remarkably nice and interesting. Some gooseberries, elderflower, strawberries and grapefruit appearing. The characteristics in the aroma are wonderful. Lots of hops and hay in the taste. Sweet and medium bodied with some grapefruit showing up. Citrusy finish with a hint of elderflower. A very good beer. Top notch Kölsch.

Bottle, Hopper Hotel St. Antonius, Köln. Head is initially small, frothy, white, mostly diminishing. Body is clear medium yellow. Aroma is lightly to moderately malty (toasted grain), lightly hoppy (flowers), with a light note of soap. Flavor is moderately sweet, lightly bitter. Finish is lightly sweet, moderately bitter, slightly husky. Light to medium body, watery texture, lively carbonation. Ho hum.

Me, a friend, two pretty German girls and fresh Fruh Kolsh...sitting in Koln. It doesn’t get much better. This is a great beer fresh, I’ve never had it any other way.

The bottle looks good, the beer in the glass also. Could be a little bit more foam. Fine aroma. Tastes sweet and fruity, in the finish modest dry. Well done!

This is a good summer beer. Very quaffable and easy to drink. My friend who lives in Koeln has this as his favourite Koelsch. I’m not much of a Koelsch fan in general though, as it is too watery / weak for my taste.

Tap Koeln and Marburg, Germany- Great Treat! Beautiful light gold color. Finishes like air; so crisp and light. Lightness really noticeable compared to other Koelsch.

Früh is the most popular. It’s not as good as Gaffel, in my opinion. Seems to be a bit more "soft" than the others.
