Very light in color and sadly in taste to. Only very mild in hop taste but doesn’t make up for it with malt. Taste very much like fizzy water that is served by most of the lite beers.

On tap at Wurst, september 9th 2014. Semiclear golden body with a big white head. Aroma of grass, bread, hops. Pretty sweet malty tate, spicy hops, light citric, hony notes. Mild bitterness. Refreshing dry finish. A nice kölsch!

Bottle - 500ml. Pale blond body with heavy carbonation and a fading white bubbly head. Fait malty/hoppy aroma with bready and herbal hints. Its bland, light malty/hoppy taste carries some herbal notes. Ends with a short bitter/herbal finish. Boring.

Out of a bottle while hanging out in Cologne. Pours clear golden with nearly no head. Aroma of hay, light pale malt sweetness, unpleasant Kolsch aroma. Flavor follows the aroma with a slightly dirty finish, though I found it a bit cleaner than the Paffgen I had earlier today. Light bodied of course, goes down easy enough, medium carbonation. Meh.

Transfer from BA review on 2-27-13- Served on tap in a pint glass Appearance – Served a yellow amber colored brew with a one finger white head. The head faded relatively quickly to leave a moderate level of lace on the sides of the glass Smell- The nose was a mix of some sweet fruit aromas of tangerine with a grainy and bready smell. Taste – The taste started out with a more crisp and bready taste up front with hints of fruit and caramel sweetness which get more potent more toward the middle of the taste. Along the same time the sweetness maximizes some light bitterness of a grassy and herbal nature comes to the tongue. The sweet fades more toward the end of the taste leaving a crisp and grainy flavor on the tongue. Mouthfeel –The body of the beer was on the thinner to average side with a carbonation level that was fairly average. Both were quite appropriate for the style and keeping with the crisp nature of the taste. Overall – A quite easy drinking Kolsh with a nice crisp finish.

Aroma: hay, malt; Appearance: clear urine, small foamy head; Taste: medium sweetness, medium sourness, slight bitterness; Palate: bitter finish, medium body, fizzy carbonation, slick texture. Just a Koelsch - nothing to drop your jaw.

Bottle, june 12th. Pours clear golden with a medium sized white head that quickly dissipates. Aroma is sweet biscuity, caramel, light floral. Taste is mid sweet malty and light bitter with light floral and vegetal notes. Light/medium bodied, average carbonation.

Alengrin (1742) - BELGIUM - AUG 15, 2014
One of the classic Kölsch beers, with finely structured, creamy, stable foam and pale straw blonde colour. Soft malty aroma with spicy and flowery accents, malt sweetness in the mouth, more so than in many other Kölsch beers which also use wheat malt (not this one), drying and ending in a herbally hoppy, elegantly bitterish finish. Kölsch is all about subtlety and this one surely has what it takes to be a fine example of its style.
