3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
16.9 oz bottle into a pint glass.
A: Pours a pale straw color with excellent clarity. About one finger of a creamy white head is formed with okay retention. Soft waves of lacing are left down the glass.
S: Lots of earthy, mildly sulfur-y German hops make themselves known initially. Some cereal grains and faint touches of fruit esters round out the decent aroma nicely.
T: Now this is more like it. A combination of cereal grains and noble hops open the brew nicely, with both notes bleeding into the crisp, dry finish. What makes this one rock-solid is its prevalent stone fruit esters that help (superbly) balance the adjunct sweetness and mild hops.
M: Like I said, it’s crisp and dry with very little lingering sweetness - but plenty of lingering fruit flavors. Carbonation is good without being overbearing, also. While it’s quite drinkable, I find the flavor profile too enjoyable to chug it down quick.
O: Truth be told, I really enjoy a good kolsch - and this is definitely a very good, even great, example of an (underappreciated) style. And it’s cheap, to boot!

3.2 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
$3.22 for the 475mL bottle purchased from Yankee Wine and Spirits. Pours light yellow; snowy white bubbly head 1 ½ fingers in length. Aromas of sugar cane, fennel seeds, German noble hops, vegetation and bok choy. Tastes the same. Clean, crisp, and metallic. I can get into this style.

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Flowery aroma and pils like appearance. Citrus and flora flavour, this is a great kolsch. Creamy malt background and elegant balancing dryness of hop. Smashing!

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 2/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 16/20
Dark amber pour. Very little head. Slightly lacking in carbonation, which is expected for this style. Crisp, hop body, with a slight malt backbone. Tastes like a good fresh pilsner. This is a good beer, and I would enjoy drinking it in the summer.

3.4 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
Bottle. Poured a golden color with a short lasting head. Malty aroma with a bitter hop taste. I guess I’m told I like the bitter beers, and this one was pretty good too.

2.9 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20
Bottle from Willow Court Wines, Lichfield. I’m yet to be convinced that Kölsch isn’t just another word for pale lager. This has no strength to the aroma - slight fresh...er...something. Apple, perhaps. Taste is fresh, clean but (as with all I’ve had of this style) lacking flavour. I’m not really a Kölsch man.

3.7 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
A - Light/clear golden color. A bit below average sized white head.
S - Some grain (corn smell) and malt sweetness. Some grassy/floral hops. Also smells of golden fruit.
T - Base is mostly grainy malt, that has a corn sweetness. Then along with that is a lot of golden fruit (apple pear mostly with some lemon). Slight grassy and floral hops, but those are mostly covered by the malt and fruit.
M - Light and refreshing. Good carbonation and fizzy.
D - Refreshing and easy to drink. Fruity flavors make it easy to drink.
Notes: Taste like an above average German pilsner with a good amount of golden fruit. Refreshing and easy to drink.

2.8 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 13/20
This is a good summer beer. Very quaffable and easy to drink. My friend who lives in Koeln has this as his favourite Koelsch. I’m not much of a Koelsch fan in general though, as it is too watery / weak for my taste.
