White head, pale pale clear golden body.
Pale scents of sweet pale malts.
Taste; slightly grainy sweet malts, modest hops, fairly even.
Slightly thin bodied, normal carbonation.
Finishes with mild hops in bready malts, dry hints. Not very special, just normal.

A good example of a Kolsch - it reminds me of sitting outside a bar in Cologne in summer. Fresh tasting with spicy hops.

Bottle from Rehills, Newcastle. This is a very pale straw coloured beer with a sweet toffee and malty flavour, grassy and slight floral notes on fruity finish.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
500mL bottle purchased at The Davis Beer Shoppe. The aroma on this is very nice with lots of minerals, light lemon, and a little biscuit malt sweetness. Slight floral. Transparent yellow body with a medium, fizzy white head with average head retention. Starts with a spritzy, lively carbonated mineral flavoring. Becomes a bit metallic with light biscuit maltiness in the middle. Finishes with a soft sweetness and just the lightest floral hop flavors. This is tasty.

2 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 4/10 PALATE 2/5 OVERALL 7/20
Draught at Blackback Pub on 3/15/14
Clear, straw golden body is well-carbonated producing a small white head that displays poor retention.
Wax and crayon in the nose speak to the filtration/pasteurization’s early oxidation onset. Some lightly peppery hallertauer peek out at you but quickly leave in a flurry of seltzer water-like mineral speckled ending.
Very insipid sweetness is stale and beset with more waxy/crayon-like oxidation. Peppery, vapid carbonation produces a watery, loose texture and hops grace the palate for a nanosecond. Yes, the kolsch elements are there (lightly) but it’s just been filtered to all hell and tastes marginally better than a BMC product. Way too fizzy, as well. Why did they have this on draught here???
