COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION

A brown beer with a small beige head. The aroma is sweet malty with some notes of alcohol, caramel, and nuts, and the flavor is very much the same.

UPDATED: JUL 6, 2005 (Bottle 33 cl) Norwegian breweries seem to have a fondnes for "Bocks" or rather German "Doppelbocks" as most of them make their own variety. This one is reddish brown with a light brown head. Very full-bodied almost vinous in the direction of a sophisticated port wine. Lightly burned character. Very delicious indeed. 150704

Brown-amber color. A lot of caramel in the nose, and some roasted malt. Malty, round, loads of caramel, a peculiar chestnut note. Strong final, caramel again. Not bad for a Norwegian one.

UPDATED: JAN 21, 2011 Bottle. Sweet aroma of malt and alcohol from this brown beer. Flavour is much the same, but with some caramel, and a little hops and licorice in the aftertaste. Rating: 6-3-6-3-13-3.1. 050918

Bottle. A finger-thick, dense off-white head sits on top of a dark chestnut body. Caramel, roasted malts, raisins and a wee touch of alcohol. Full-bodied and quite nicely carbonated. Notes of coffee and alcohol in the flavor, some bitterness as well, but mostly coffee, roasted malts and dried fruits. I am a bit puzzled regarding the alcohol in this one, I mean, it’s only 6.5 per cent alcohol. Roasted, hop bitter finish with dried fruits, and, yes, alcohol. Well, I don’t mind the alcohol, it’s not bad, it just shouldn’t be that evident. Else it’s a quite nice one, definitely one of the best "classic" Norwegian beers, from the age before the quiet and slow beer revolution. 110121
