God Frydenjul!

330 ml bottle. Good looking amber body with a decent beige head. Aroma is malt and caramel, a bit plain but pleasant. Flavor is slightly roasted malt with caramel and an acceptable bitterness, still rather straight forward but quite enjoyable. Body is medium and if you forget about the Christmas expectations it’s actually a pretty decent lager.

Medium brown head. Dark red body. Fruity sugary red berry, toffee malts aroma with paper notes. Dry-sweet strawy papery caramelly taste with sugary notes. Mid-bodied. Dry roasty metallic rye aftertaste with papery notes. Some nuts and syrup, too. Not bad. (0.33l bottle, Centra, Oslo.)

Gr0ve (1877) - Oslo, NORWAY - NOV 1, 2009
330 ml bottle. Reddish mahogany. Clear. Tall light beige fine-laced head. Papery aroma with a slightly sweet nutty note. Medium-bodied with a lightly sweet flavours backed up by nuts and cookies. Delicate flavours. There is a hop bitterness that hides beneath, but never shine through much. Even though there is a certain sweetness, it is the papery flavours that dominate. Decent, but not particularly exiting. Might work better in a stronger version.
