Bottle, at the brewpub. Hazy amber gold, moderate white head and gentle condition. Low spicy wheatiness in the nose with some hoppiness but no noticable esters or bananas. Low bitter sweet wheatiness in the mouth with hops again quite prominent. Gentle hop bitterness in the finish with some lingering fruitiness.
3.1 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 12/20 dortmunder (961) - Herdecke, GERMANY - NOV 18, 2004
Dark, hazy, cloudy egg-yolk colour. Yeasty cloves aroma. Yeasty, citric and pretty tart taste. Bitter finish for a weizen. Hardly any maltiness or sweetness, going a bit in the direction of american weizen. Medium-bodied.Not really my kind of weizen, but still okay.
4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 JonMoore (1581) - Loughborough, Leicestershire, ENGLAND - OCT 18, 2004
Bottle at Arcari, Gastatte, Altstadt, Dusseldorf. Cloudy orange/yellow colour with a foamy white head.
Aroma is fresh and fruity. Flavour has got bananas, lemons and wheat. Very nice dry finish. An unexpected and excellent find.
3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 presario (4406) - Stampede City, Alberta, CANADA - OCT 1, 2004
HUGE POP from the cork. World’s biggest head. Even splitting between two wheat beer glasses it took a few minutes to pour. Clouody carbonated orange-yellow. Good banana aroma with some yeast and spice tickling the nose. Spice is lively on the tongue. Sweet banana flavour that evaporates at the end leaving a dry light spice finish.
3.4 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 13/20 JorisPPattyn (7297) - Antwerpen, BELGIUM - SEP 17, 2004
Gushing to mass of lemon-yellow foam, later slowly collapsing, but quite tenacious; beer the perfect colour of an unripe peach skin. Nose with kafir leaf, allspice or clove, some fruity and estery aroma, fresh-smelling. Again a fruity taste, as from some exotic fruit - juicy, citrussy, spiced and unknown. Wheat sneaks in via the backdoor. Quite refreshing beer, again fruitjuice, but not watery in texture. Wheat fills in. Deserves a 4/5 because it perfectly fits the styles’ requirements (not the rules, the ideal for the customer). Beats its Uerige counterpart hands down, what cannot be said about their respective Alts.

This is a lovely wheat beer. Golden and hazy with a foamy white head that eventually recedes. A mellow nose with orange and banana. The mouthfeel is initially spritzy but softens and then finishes with a dry bite. Very drinkable with controlled use of wheat. Comes in a lovely 1/2 liter, resealable bottle that you can carry away.
