2.7 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 10/20 chriso (7065) - London, - MAR 26, 2009
Bottle, from House of Wines, Lincoln, May 2008. Quite pale golden colour. Yeasty and slightly barnyard aroma. Sharp and clean with a rather gassy mouthfeel. Some citric notes in the flavour but a bit low on malt body. Serviceable supping beer but doesn’t stand out from the crowd (other than being rather pale for a bitter). Not sure the hop combination works perfectly but would need more of them to make a definitive judgement.

Bottle@BlindTastingSession. Aroma of grass, peat, leather and a hint of citrus. Sweet and bitter start, but sweetness diminishes leaving quite some hop bitterness. Hint of peat, leather and green peppers. Not bad but peat and Golden Ale does not compete IMO.

Cask at GBBF 2008. Good golden colour with a large white head. Loads of citrus in the aroma. The flavour is very much of grapefruit, that leads to a medium dry finish.

Bottle conditioned. From High Spirits in Cleethorpes. Hazy amber gold, thin white head and low condition. Nasty aromas of sugary homebrew and yeast, quite hoppy and dry in the mouth with some piney citrus hop notes and a touch of hazelnut, slight sweetness in the finish but otherwise quite dry and hoppy.
