Stark malzig-weicher und sehr gewürziger Geschmack, der aufgrund deiner Intensität nur in Teilen passt. Im Abgang süß-brotig, zu süß für ein Porter, leicht vergoren fruchtig. Überwürzt! -/9/10/9/-/10
3.1 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 5/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 11/20 Ungstrup (23975) - Oamaru, NEW ZEALAND - SEP 18, 2009
Bottled. A black beer with a dark brown head. The aroma has strong notes of hard roasted malt, as well as some burnt malt, and straw - more stout than porter like. The flavor is weirdly acidic with strong notes of licorice combined with medium notes of straw and hard roasted malt, but also with an underlying acidity, which I think is a brewing flaw. Nice body. Thanks yespr for sharing.

[Sampled with the trio: Svoger, Svogergylp and Adenila Foged at EBF, 2008.] Although it is long time I’ve tasted this I remember some very great licorice porter and we got several sips at the almost final stage on this great eve. Thanks to Fuglebjerggaard for this epiloque!

Bottle, 75cl corked, at European Beer Festival, Copenhagen. A black beer with a nice, tan head. Burnt malt and lots of salty licorice in the aroma. Treacle too. Quite sweet in the mouth, with treacle and a lovely flavor of salty licorice. Smooth, full-bodied and slightly warming. The initial flavor lasts for a long time too. A beauty from Fuglebjerggaard, even though it’s a bit one-dimentional. (080913)
