Høstfugl is inspired by Bavarian brewing principles. An unfiltered dunkel weizen style beer using wheat malt, local Danish barley and some dark specialty malts including caramel rye malt. In addition Bavarian hops and yeast are used to impart a fresh and mild bitterness with notes of clove and banana from the top fermenting yeast.

Can. Pours cloudy brown amber colour, yellow to orange hue. Topped with a small but persisting off-white head, no lacing. Strong fruity malts in the nose. Aroma likewise, malts, fruity-yeasty, lemon, sour dough bread. Some banana appears later on. Medium sweet with a refreshing acidity. Some bitterness takes over once the acidity has subsided a bit. Medium body with high carbonation.

Can, 50cl. Pours cloudy dark red/brown hazelnut colour with a little dense head. Aroma is banana, wheat, yeast, cloves and dark malt. Flavour begins sweet and malt dominated, turns into more wheat and of ripe bananas as it warms. Light grainy and hay in middle, finishing with a little pepper spiciness in the back that really suits the wheat/banana flavour. Low, towards non-existing hobs. Medium bodied, smooth palate with a heavy carbonation.

Hazy brown of color with an off white head. An aroma of toffee, banana, sweets and chocolate. A flavor of malt, toffee and bread.

500 ml can. Murky, deep orange body with a nice, creamy off-white head. Mild aroma of wheat, caramel malt and chewing gum. Flavor is quite sweet, still refreshing, caramel malt, wheat and banana. Nice body and decent in aftertaste. OK dark wheat without anything extraordinary.

Bottle from Rema 1000, Copenhagen - Fuzzy amber/brown pour with a fast dissipating light brownish head. Very malty, slightly roasted, sweet caramel, yeasty and some dark fruit. Ok.

0,5L orange alu-can bought at supermarket in Middelfart, DK. Foam caramel-white and leaves some patterns on glass, dark hazy beer with deep caramellish colour. Light sweet smell. Someone went bananas? Taste also sweet, barbecue and caramel, with round sweet palate. Aftertaste long as a sunset. Enjoyed with a smile, 23june2013, Vejlby Fed Middelfart Denmark.

0.5 can. Cloudy, dark, dirty, amber color and a big, cream-colored head, nice but no lacing. Really pleasant aroma, typical banana, clove, vanilla, some wheat, and citrus. Taste is more malty than expected, a lot of hay, wheat as well, definitely sweet but not similar to the archetypal Weizen flavor. A tad less than medium body, creamy texture and soft carbonation. Medium finish, a lot of vanilla. Overall the beer is rather simple but really enjoyable

Hazy copper color. Aroma: Banana, malts, sweets and bread. Taste: Banana, caramel, nuts and a little spicy. The palate is pretty smooth. It’s an alright beer, not really familiar with the style, but it doesn’t do a lot for me.
