COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
Bottle Conditioned Ale. The Best Before Date in 10 Years.
藤原ヒロユキさんプロデュースによる日本では初となる賞味期限10年の本格的ボトルコンディショニング(壜内熟成)エールが誕生しました。ボトルコンディショニングの醸造テクニックは、一次発酵が終わったビールを壜詰めする際に生きた酵母を再び添加し、熟成庫で温度管理を行いながらコンディショニングを行います。酵母は壜内で活性し続けています。新しいビールはバーレーワインよりアルコール度数を抑え、軽やかさを演出する為に小麦麦芽を加え、2つの銘柄を用意しました。 ボトルコンディションのビールは酵母が活性しているため、ボトルは耐圧性のあるシャンパン用ボトル (750ml)を使用しています。打栓も通常のビールに用いる王冠ではなくシャンパンと同じものです。(新型のエコ・タイプのもの。抜栓後も留め直しが出来るためグラス売りも可能。)どちらも壜内熟成の為、エージングが進むことにより一層豊かに華開きます。

Bottle at RBJG#2 - Grand Tasting Tim’s Place. Cloudy brown - white head. Sourish, fruity, roasted, nutty, acid, barley, wine notes, lemon, apples, light oxidation.

Pretty silly beer. Like a sour BW with little character or verve. Cherry, tannins, wood, under carbonated body. Sour lactic finish. Pretty dull. Imagine a flat lou pepe that has been left in the sun and this is what you might get.

Bottle at RBJG 2 Grand Tasting, thanks KyotoLefty. Light brown with a small brown head that leaves some lacing. Sour grape aroma. Mild sour aroma. Doesn’t taste like a barley wine.

750 ml bottle at Asahiya, shared among a group. Aroma of peaches, melon, wine, as well as a paint-like solvent character. Pretty pink-red color with lace. Flavor of blood orange, peach, melon, wine. They said it was aged in wine casks, but I haven’t been able to confirm it yet. Tasted like it could have been. Much better than the Blanc, and probably will be better in the couple years, though I don’t see it being very good in 10. They’ll probably sell some for 10 times this silly price at that time.
