KyotoLefty (306), Kyoto, Japan Sep 10, 2008 Bottle from Yamaoka.
Rather dark brown with a huge, fine, tan head. Fragrant aroma of banana, clove, and a touch of caramel and chocolate. Rich, thick wheat malt flavor with creamy banana and spice. Cloves. Relatively sweet with a touch of sour to balance. Has a slight chocolate touch. Could have more dark malt. Finish is slightly sour and malty with bananas and fruit. Very nice indeed, and certainly very reliably made, although maybe not quite dark enough. wetherel (1151), Encinitas, California, USA Jul 21, 2008 Bottle from trade with TimE. Huge foamy head. Creamy off-white color. Brown-amber color. Not sweet or dry. Not bitter. Easy to drink. Some long-boil caramelization in the aroma. buzzoven (170), Japan Jul 3, 2008 Bottle. Dark, thick muddy colour with slight amber tones. Nice banana smell from the lavender brown head. Mouthfeel is balanced, but thin, taste is biscuits, cherry coke, slight herbal presence, The taste just sort of creeps out and then fadesd away, so if lacks a real distinguishable finish..but overall a nice beer when the mood strikes. Curious to try this on tap to compare. Capa (747), Yokosuka, Japan Jun 2, 2008 Draft at Ushitora. Deep caramel in color with a heavy tan head. Sweet malty aroma with fruit and some wheat. Very flavorful. Fruity, sweet malts, some toasted malts, and a bit of banana. I couldn’t stop drinking this beer, it was too tasty. Could easily drink this all night (and into the morning). TimE (1066), Tokyo, Japan Jun 25, 2007 Hazy dark brown color. Cookies, dark chocolate, baked cake and bananas in the nose makes me wish this was sometype of cake. Bananas, chocolate, cookies, mildly sweet mouth. Chocolate banana cake finish. Found this better in the bottle on draft surprisingly.
