3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20 MartinT (6934) - Montreal, Quebec, CANADA - APR 25, 2013
My Bottom Line:
Banana esters envelop perfum-y conifers while peaches and doughy yeast render complexity.
Further Personal Perceptions:
-A creamy head of foam tops the cloudy amber.
-Even though the color is quite dark for a Weizen, this doesn’t taste like a Dunkel Weizen at all.
-Although this is simple, it is very effective AND authentic. A twist on the Fujizakura Weizen cannot be poor, that’s for sure.
-The aroma is particularly alluring.
-After a while, minty toothpaste notes are found.
On tap at Watering Hole.

These guys don’t make bad beer - and usually it’s very, very good, as is the case here. A souped up weizen with a slightly spicy and moderately phenolic touch. Great lacing. I would like a tad more carbonation, but that’s just nit picking. Super solid.

Draught at Lezzet. Big fruity nose: banana and some spice. Very pretty hazy copper color, with a thick creamy head. Heavy banana initial with some tart pruney notes; in mid the sweetness rises and takes over; very smooth finish. Medium-thick body. Very good. But served too cold -- had to let it warm up a bit to get the aromas.

Draught at Lezzet. Medium brown color with orange tints, medium head. Very cloudy. Malty nose, chocolate, banana, clove, light caramel. Nice wheat. Rich, malty flavor, with a good tart edge that balances the sweetness. Nicely fruity, with rich cereals. Full body. Great stuff as expected.
