3.4 AROMA 5/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Maybe it’s because of the flu but I couldn’t really pick a lot of aroma in this one. There’s a hint of smokiness and a little bit of tar and caramel. Colour is dark brown, not much of head. Really smooth and soft body. Taste has more of that smokiness and burnt wood. Very good overall.

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 9/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
Draught at Bungalow. Smoky, malty aromas not as powerful as I'd imagined, but still appetizing. Murky brown with low, off-white head. Quite smooth, with hardly any stickiness. Excellent flavours of caramel, malt, berries all brought together nicely by the smoke. Very interesting. Delicious.

3.4 AROMA 4/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
a light and easy drinkin’ smoked beer.
compared to bamberg;aroma was almost non-existent and taste was a lighter version.we had the beer with dinner(tried to have a similar meal to what we had in bamberg)and the japanese version went very well.
*there happened to be a fire in our area as we were making dinner, and the smell of the burning wood added to the "ambiance".

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Aroma: equal parts bready malt and smoky BBQ.
Palate: smooth, rounded medium-full body.
Flavor: bready malt, smoky and meaty BBQ, nutty, roasted malt
Comment: well balanced. Filling, yet not overly sweet with medium intensity smoke character. Very good.

4.3 AROMA 10/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
UPDATED: JUN 21, 2013 Bottle at home though I also had it on tap at Bungalow. The first Japanese beer that really blew my mind as well as one of the first smoked beers I’ve ever had. This is one of the best beers made in Japan and has never disappointed me. It pours a purple amber brown with a light beige foamy head. As soon as you have a glass nearby you can get the wonderful smoked aroma wafting towards you. The flavor starts off smokey, then brings up a spicy malt base and ends on a smokey note with subtle hints of bacon. One of my favorite Japanese beers.
