Slight straw color, nice legs. Licorice, melon, koji in the nose, quite a deep, rich scent. A thick feel, complex . This is the Barley Wine of sakes, layers of flavor, juicy, chewy. The koji and rice flavors are prominent, there is a sweet, fruity taste giving way to more nutty flavors in the middle and a strong but fairly smooth alcohol finish, hot yes, but not rough. Follow is warm and earthy. Somewhat reminds me of a good Belgian Quad. WOW, a small 200 ml bottle , wrapped in a local newspaper with a label affixed to it. What a diamond in the rough! I’m glad you enjoyed these B.D. & thanks for adding all my oddball stuff!

180mL Bottle: Neat newspaper wrap with stickers, just like the picture, with a fairly boring, but discriptive label underneath. Pours a light beige color with some decent little legs. The nose is very fresh and fruity like strawberry and cotton candy, fresh koji and light alcohol. The flavor is a bit neutral at first, then the alcohol slaps your palate with quite a bit of force. After you’re accustomed to the alcohol level, you get a nice snappy minerally mouthfeel. Very masculine! The nose is light and fruity like a little school girl then you take a sip and you’re arm wrestling a drunken sailor. The finish is a bit medicinal and fairly acidic with a long drawn out burn. The nose grabs you, then you’re stuck for the ride. Interesting sake! Thanks Dan-san.
