A holiday beer for the nonconformist, Festivus is the perfect ale to “air your grievances over”. This mildly spiced red ale is malty throughout with a subtle hop nose. WARNING: Some but not all drinkers may experience certain side effects that include, but are not limited to: Random exhibitions of “ Feats of Strength” or impromptu “Shouting of Obscenities” .

Bottle - from sampler pack. Orange-brown, cloudy. Very little aroma. Somewhat roasty and spicy. Not bad.

Bottle. Pours a clear dark amber body with a small fizzy beige head that was fairly short lived. The nose is moderately spicy, mostly cinnamon and vanilla, with some toasty and sweet caramel maltiness below. The flavor is on the sweeter side as far as the malt goes. The spice mixture doesn’t really work for me all that well. I’m used to cinnamon, but it’s combo with vanilla and mace (whatever that is) just doesn’t work for me at all. The lingering finish of that weird mixture of spices far outlasts the malt. Medium bodied and a little clingy with soft fizzy carbonation. I don’t really know what to make of this one, I think they need to go back to the drawing board with the spice bill.

12 ounce bottle into pint glass, best before 5/2014. Pours lightly cloudy ruby red color with a 2 finger dense light khaki head with good retention, that reduces to a nice cap that lingers. Spotty soapy lacing clings on the glass, with a good amount of streaming carbonation. Aromas of caramel, toast, biscuit, brown bread, light toffee, light chocolate, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, light vanilla, herbal, and toasted earthiness. Very nice aromas with good balance and complexity of dark/bready malt and spice notes; with good strength. Taste of caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, brown bread, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, allspice, light chocolate, herbal, and toasted earthiness. Minimal bitterness on the finish; with lingering notes of caramel, toast, toffee, biscuit, brown bread, cinnamon, vanilla, nutmeg, allspice, light chocolate, herbal, and toasted earthiness on the finish for a good bit. Very nice balance and robustness of dark/bready malt and spice flavors; with a great malt/spice balance and zero cloying flavors after the finish. Medium carbonation and body; with a moderately creamy and very smooth mouthfeel that is nice. Alcohol is very well hidden with only a slight warming present after the finish. Overall this is a very nice spiced brown ale. All around good balance and robustness of dark/bready malt and spice flavors; and very smooth to drink. A very enjoyable offering.

Clear dark amber color with a medium thin off-white head that dissipates steadily. Strings of lacing on the glass. Aroma of malt, vanilla and spices. Medium body with flavors of sweet spices, bready malt and slight fruit. The finish is sweet with a short chocolate malt and spice aftertaste. Just average overall.

Rather dark with a decent aroma of sweet malts and some hops. Nice lacing. Taste of winter spices with a citrus bite. Mouthful is slightly creamy. I like this take on a winter ale. Very drinkable. Great with a brown sugar/cinnamon rim.

Appearance is medium white head with a dark brown color. Aroma is a little sweet. Taste is a mix of both sweet malts and a few hops with some winter spices. Overall just a bit off.

Not much of aroma. Flavor is fairly bland. Not much in the way of spices but probably more palatable than other holiday ales. Simple and ok. Hint of chocolate finish.

Ok, this is simple. It smells like grandmas soap dish and tastes like grandmas soap dish. It's appearance is very nice, thick head clear and dark brown. Smells and tastes like soap. The rest of us don't want Festivus. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

From bottle. Dusty grain, roasted barley, chocolate, and mild spices. Much like a brown ale in nose. Dark coppery brown clear but with some haze, topped with creamy light tan lacing head. Medium body with medium carbonation. Starts medium dry with lots of roast, nutty and spicy bitterness. Some malty chocolate sweetness and light spicy character. Medium bitter hop finish with lasting bitter after.
