Bottle. Pours black thin brown head. Aroma is chocolate, roasty, coffee, light pine. Mild sweet taste. Full body, thick texture, roasty, bitter hop finish. I thought Black IPA when I drank it rather than stout. Overall good.

12 Fl. Oz. Bottle. The cheesy label grabbed my attention, but I was not expecting much, thankfully I was wrong... Poured dark brown, with a nice tan head, nice retention, nice lacing. Aroma of roasted malts, some chocolate and some coffee notes. Taste is consistent, and it is quite smooth; sweet, chocolate, some roast notes and even some hops. A solid stout, very drinkable and certainly quite enjoyable.

Tap. Pitch pour, gentle roast with very light mocha and chocolate, light-medium bitterness that unfortunately turns to acridity, and there’s a light-medium sourness that I find really off-putting here; it’s not infection, just overworked malt. Medium body and a nice balance between smooth/crisp, just not one I’ll be returning to soon (maybe bottled).

Draft @ WOB, RSW. Aroma is malty, roasty, & a little sweet. Opaque black color with thick medium brown head, nice lacing. Taste is a bit bitter, roasty. Medium body. Maybe a bit too bitter (especially aftertaste), but not bad.

On cask at the Knick. Smoky, rubbery, hoppy. Chocolate, coffee, and light molasses. Dark brown black with thin creamy light tan head. Medium body with cask carbonation. Starts fairly dry with roasted-burnt malt. Chocolate, coffee, and some smoke, light molasses. Big hop character, piney with dank rubbery finish on the malt. Smooth bitter finish with coffee-bitter after.

DRAFT at Ten Penny in Pittsburgh. Exccellent example of the stout style. Pours almost black with one finger head. Nose of bitter chocolate / express malt. Excellent...tasty.

Transfer from BA review on 10-10-13- Poured from bottle into a pint glass Appearance – The beer pours an almost pitch black color, deep-deep brown color with a tiny brown colored head. The head fades rather quickly leaving a great level of foamy lace on the sides of the glass and some spotty island of foam on the top of the brew. Smell – The aroma is heaviest of a roasted malt and some chocolate notes. Along with these smells are some aromas of a caramel and molasses sweetness and a bit of vanilla coffee. Rounding out the aromas is a bit of an earthy and herbal hop. Taste – The taste starts out with a big dose of roasted malt and a moderately strong hoppy taste of an earthy nature. While there is chocolate in the nose, there really is none detected on the tongue. The caramel and molasses sweetness, that were also in the nose, are very light in the taste, with them largely lost more toward the middle to the end of the flavor profile. While the sweetness fades, a big coffee flavor comes to the tongue bittering the taste. Along with the bitter coffee, more hop of an earthy nature as well as a bit of an herbal and grassy flavor. Some flavors of char and toast also develop during the taste, with the combination of flavors at the end leaving a slightly bitter and rather roasted favor to linger on the tongue. Mouthfeel – The body of the beer is thick and chewy with a carbonation level that is on the average side. The creamy body is quite nice for all the roasted flavors of the brew with all the dry roasted and bitter coffee flavors of the brew really soaking into the tongue. Overall –Dry and bitter with a big coffee flavor in this one. It was actually a little too dry and hopped for a stout in my opinion, but if that is something you are looking for then this is certainly a good choice.

Heavily roasted, with flavors of espresso, dark chocolate, toffee and toast. Nice bitterness throughout and medium/full bodied.

Draught @ Brewery: This one pours an opaque dark brown color. There was about an inch of a frothy tan head that left lots of lacing. The nose is good. Chocolate and roasted malts are predominate. The taste is very good. Surprisingly the chocolate malts are not really noticeable. Roasted malts, no sweetness, and just a touch of bitterness. A very good stout.

355 mL bottle. Listed as a stout here, and as a "west coast stout" on the label. Pretty much a roasty black IPA. Well hopped, decent body, nice beer.
