12 ounce bottle pours a brown color, aromas of chocolate, light roasted malt, and coffee. Flavors follow suit with a splash of burnt coffee and coca-cola added to it. Decent porter over all thin on the palate.

3.3 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
pours a chestnut brown with light edges and a fuzzy bubbly light brown head. Nose is fairly nice, chocolate fudge and cake batter with a nice rich roared coffee note subtly accompanying. Taste is a bit watery and much more roasted with a tinge of burnt coffee. Still a decent cakey type quality but much more muddled than the nose. Body is lighter with a gentle to low carbonation and dry chocolaty finish that lingers a bit.

THOUGHTS: Just sort of an average to nice porter with a little coffee added to it. The light coffee notes in the aroma were pleasant, but the coffee in the flavor was a little more like old, nearly stale coffee and coffee grounds.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a dark brown that was nearly black in the glass with red highlights and an average, dark tan to light brown head that kept a thick sheet and left excellent lacing. The aroma had moderate roasted malt, coffee and sour coffee; slight hops; slight cherry; and a little tobacco. The initial flavor was slightly sweet, light to moderately sour and lightly bitter; while the finish was slightly sweet, moderately sour and light to moderately bitter. There was coffee, sour coffee, sour cherry, roasted malt, cream, and slight hops. The medium body was sort of creamy and a little dry with fizzy and rather tingly carbonation and a lightly astringent finish.

Draft to pint. Looks good; pitch black with beige head that slowly dissipates into lacing. Smells solid; malt and coffee. Tastes like it smells with an average mouthfeel. Strong, bitter coffee flavor, but not unpleasantly so (but I’m a coffee drinker). A decent example of the style.

Potent chocolate and coffee aroma. Some dark fruits possibly. Poured black, large tan head disappeared quickly. Taste was a bit of a disappointment after the smell. Thick texture, but taste was lacking...especially after the smell.

12 ounce bottle. Pours a deep black color with a medium grey head. A smooth roast and coffee nose. The flavor is good: dark fruit, coffee, roast, some ash. Very clean. Nice.

Verty bitter coffee finish. Would have liked a bit more roasted malt flavor. Beautiful to look at, and decent enough to drink.

Not bad. Malts seem to go well with coffee beans which seem like they are of the dark roast variety. Body seems a bit wet but this is a porter so take that. Bitter coffee finish which seems to go well with residual malty caramel sweetness. My favorite of the variety case so far.
