Bottle split with pineypower. Poured out a rather flat pitch black body with a tiny fizzy light beige head. Aroma of sweet dark chocolate syrup, vanilla, wet toast and some light bourbon. Medium mouthfeel with a creamy body, average carbonation and hardly any alcohol burn. Flavor of chocolate, vanilla, chocolate syrup, wet brown bread, barrel, hint of almond and toasted coconut. Solid beer.

Blend of rye, vanilla, roasted malt, chocolate and citrus hops. I liked this Imperial Stout, rye barrels gives it a unique character. Just wish it had more complexity.

Dark black with a brown head. Aroma of roasted malts, chocolate and bourbon. Taste of sweet roasted malts, dark chocolate and whiskey, full body, slick feel, soft carbonation, smooth.

Damico (1914) - Royersford, Pennsylvania, USA - APR 14, 2013
Pours dark thick brownish black with a decent beige head. Aroma brings light vanilla, roasted smoky malts, brown sugar, and dark chocolate. The flavor brings roasted not overly bitter malts, a lot less of the barrel in the flavor than in the nose. Body is blended well, creamy but definitely lighter than expected.

Pours black, dark brown at the edges. Looks thick. Small brown head. Only a thin coating of little brown bubbles remain after a minute. Aroma has a relatively restrained rye character, compared to many whiskey barrel aged stouts. Lots of chocolate and caramel sweetness. It has a sweet, rich flavor. The barrel character gives the beer greater depth without taking over, just a nice kick of rye spice. The taste has a bit more rye flavor. Pretty health whiskey spice kick. Lots of sweet chocolate, again. Some vanilla and oak show up. Mouthfeel is smooth and nice, but the beer drinks a bit smaller than its abv. It’s just a little too light. This is a good beer. Nice to find an imperial stout that spent time in a rye barrel and even nicer to find that the barrel didn’t completely take over.

Dark black-brown body, thin light brown head, a few stray traces of lacing. Chocolate, roast, lightly boozy rye notes, caramel and a little coffee. Medium to full bodied, silky carbonation, light heat.

Draft at Khyber Pass. Tulip. Oily opaque pour with a large frothy tan head that left lace. Some medicinal notes off the top. Strong thick burnt toast and coffee. Rye whiskey. Black vinyl. Bit of a shock at first, but my palate recovered quickly. Now with the beer warmer it feels much smoother, despite the high alcohol. I suspect that a high IBU is there as well. Also turned to dark clear ruby at the bottom of the glass.

Bottle. Pours dark brown/black, with a small, brown head. Aroma is malt, rye, chocolate, and brown sugar. Flavor is roasted malt, chocolate, coffee, rye, and alcohol. Don’t get a lot of the barrel notes.

Thick black oily pour with a brown surface head that vanishes quickly. Whisley aroma of vanilla, and chocolate. Complex flavor with vanilla, chocolate, coffee, and whiskey. Nice beer.
