COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
This distinguished ale was brewed in the colonial tradition of using molasses and spruce tips in place of flavor hops to give the beer its unique flavor.

This one poured a light orange with a white head. Aroma was of caramel, light pine. Flavor was bland and malty, spruce hardly there.

355 mL bottle from the brewery.Hazy rust brown with a film of head. Thin, aroma is mostly malt with a vegetal note. Don’t really get a lot of spruce. Not much in the flavour either, at least not like I expected, anyhow. Some bitterness at the end. The malt is thin and a touch sweet. Not great, this one. Disappointing.

FROTHINGSLOSH (4843) - GREENSBURG, Pennsylvania, USA - FEB 14, 2014
Sampled from a 12 oz brown bottle this beer poured a hazy peach-orange color with a medium sized creamy-soapy orange-white head that left a bit of lacing. The aroma was tangy and sweet caramel and pine needles. The flavor was spruce, pine needles, and had a tangy and sweet undertone of caramel and honey. Medium length tangy finish of spruce and caramel. Moderately full bodied. Ok.

Orange-ish body, medium to thin white head, spotty lacing. spruce, molasses, caramel, honey, stonefruits. Cloying sweetness, medium bodied, lingering finish with a touch of acidity (early stage infection?). Not pleasant

Hazy amber colored pour. Small white head. Little bit of lacing. Malty aroma. Malty taste. Sweet finish with some spiciness. Not bad.

Taste as advertised. Not bad, however not really a style I would drink that much of. Fair execution.

Not a bad brew, but a little one dimensional. It’s golden and light bodied, and the flavor is (as expected) piney.... you might even say... spruce like. As with all their brews, this is a solid concoction, just not my favorite out of their line up. Pittsburgh Beerfest 2013.

Draught @ Brewery: This one pours a fairly clear, orangish golden color. There was a bit of an off-white head that didn’t linger too long or leave much lacing. The aroma is decent. It is mainly spruce and piney hops. The taste is interesting. The spruce is an interesting but good flavor. Bit of pine and spices, a bit of bitterness. I’d have another.

12oz bottle 7/25/13 (U Pick Six-Erie, PA) Hotel Glass-Pours a slightly hazy goldenish amber with a small white ring for a head. Aroma of grains and malt. Taste of malt, molasses, and slight spruce. This medium bodied brew is not bad but not sure what to expect.
