32oz growler, filled at my local Whole Foods about 7 hours prior to consumption. Shared with friends over a game of Catan. Mostly clear yellow orange color. Thin off-white head. Nice spread of lace. Bigger body. Smooth, lighter carbonation. Lightly dry finish. Nice big bitter taste. Light zesty sweet. Some orange-citrus, pine. Some pale malt. Light resiny bitter piney aftertaste. Awesome. I thoroughly enjoyed this.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20 gripweed57 (319) - Hamilton Square, New Jersey, USA - NOV 17, 2012
12 ounce bottle. Cloudy amber orange color. Small creamy beige head. Resiny pine hop aroma. Toasted caramel malt flavor is overpowered by the aggressive pine and citrus hops. If you’re a hop head, you will love this. Hops rght through to finish. Sweet malt backbone helps to balance this ale somewhat.

Bottle. Pours a hazy amber with thick tan head and chain lacing. Nose of sweet caramel boozy malt. Sweet and malty with a decent bitter finish. The booze and malts conceal most of the hop characters.

3.7 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20 Heathen (1386) - Wilmington, Delaware, USA - SEP 22, 2012
THOUGHTS: Nearly a very hoppy barley wine. Suppressed the alcohol fairly well.
TECHNICAL: Bottle. Poured a clear, dark, reddish amber with a small to average, off-white head that mostly diminished and left fair lacing. The aroma had moderate caramel malt; light to moderate pine, citrus and metallic hops; brown sugar; maple syrup; and alcohol. The initial flavor was moderately sweet and lightly bitter; while the finish was heavily sweet and moderate to heavily bitter with and average to long duration. There was caramel, brown sugar, alcohol, pine hops, some citrus hops, more pine hops, sugar water, maple syrup and honey. The medium to full body was a bit oily and then dry with lightly fizzy carbonation and a lightly alcoholic finish.

Bottle. Poured a cloudy goldish brown color. Minimal head. Not very fresh aroma, slight citrus hop and malty. Medium bitterness. Had a heavy maltyness too it. Was expecting more hops. Not bad though.
