COMMERCIAL DESCRIPTION
So here we are 25 years later. Very humbled, grateful, and amazed that we got here in one piece. Still a mix of beer geeks and boardheads. Still independent. Still trying to find that perfect balance between art and commerce, work and play, inspiration and perspiration. Thanks for supporting us for all these years, and next time youíre in Hood River, stop by for a beer.

Pours a copper/amber color with a medium white head that fades to a thin dish soap like spotty lacing. Smells of caramel, pale malt, and grapefruit. Tastes of all the same things in the smell. With a slight apple tartness in the back end. Mouthfeel is surupy and pretty thin, with ok carbonation and a dry finish. For a 25th anniversary commemorative beer Itís pretty lame. Full Sail could have done a lot better. I did like the sour element they added though.

Bottle 65 cl. Courtesy of fiulijn. Pours a cloudy amber (pale??) with an off-white head. Crispy caramellish malt aroma. Rich body, caramel and perfumy hops leading to a rather bitter finish. Nice but stop calling it pale! 230213

From Nathanielís Corner Store. My favorite style, glad to see some Americans taking a stab at it. Faint nose, a bit of fruit and malt, but faint. Coppery with beautiful lacing. Big malty palate, I get close to a Barley Wine flavor. Hmm, did they use the right yeast? Where is the ester profile. Itís good, just doesnít strike me as true to style, but who says it has to be.

Bomber bought at Super 1 in CDA, ID. Pours hazy orange with a medium beige head with decent retention; leaves a little lace. It is pale for a doppelbock, but not as pale as I was expecting. I was expecting a blonde or copper color, which would have been a little more interesting. Aroma is caramelly, biscuity, pretty faint, though. Taste starts out sweet before a lingering bitterness sets in; itís also savory throughout. Has a nice toasted flavor. Thereís noticeable alcohol but it doesnít taste 9%. Mouthfeel is oily, carbonation average, body full. Pretty tasty.

Bottle at Alex. Hazy orange coloured with a medium sized off-white head. Sweet and fruity aroma of caramel and spices. Sweet and fruity flavour of caramel, dried fruits, hops and grapefruits. Dry hoppy finish.

Bottle from Community Food Co-op - N Forest St, Bellingham, WA
Hazy red-amber color, medium sized head. Mild aroma of malt and cereals. Good body strength, with smooth mouthfeel; moderate residual sweetness, and light nutty touch; ordinary bitterness.
An ok beer, but the alcohol feeling overwhelms the other components.

Pours gold into a stem glass. Bright white head with little retention recedes to hug rim. Mild caramel aromas. Soft with caramel and a hot bitter lasting finish.

Pours a clear deep golden orange color with a decent off white head that persists for a bit. Smells of sweet honey like pilsner malt with a twinge of spicy hops and a bit of syrupy orange and a solid shot of ethanol. The flavor follows the aroma with lots of bready sweet malt and plenty of ethanol burn. Medium body with a moderate level of carbonation and a sweet almost syrupy mouthfeel. Iím not sure how you can consider this a dopplebock with no caramelized sugars or dark fruits in the mix. I continue to be unimpressed with full sail, this one reminds me of a malt liquor and should be poured out of a forty.

Hazy orange pour with a nice white head. Looks syrupy, but not the case. Sweet malt aroma with slight citrus scents, perhaps some pineapple. Sweet up front disappears quickly and leaves me wanting some more substance. Hop notes on the back end. Weak for a 25 Anniversary release. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone
