Mklein818 (159), Etterbeek, Virginia, Belgium May 18, 2006 I got this in a care package from my brother in Portland, and to be honest, I kind of dreaded opening what I thought would be yet another over-hopped American IPA clone. But the mildness and roundness of Full Sail really ensnared me--sure there was a little bitterness, but there was also a faint acidity and a hint of maltiness. It reminds me much more of a Palm or a Vieux Temps (Belgian pale ales) than an over-hopped US microbrew.
ideardorff (25), Palmer, Alaska, USA Aug 19, 2008 Malty aroma. Clear amber w/ a small off white head. Sweet roasted grain flavor with a very slight hop aftertaste. Decent mouth feel. A pretty good Amber but nothing too special. TheBeerBaron (161), Florida, USA Aug 14, 2008 Translucent brown hue with a fast fading head. No carbonation in the glass. Not a good omen. A tasty smelling beer, fruity pumpkin and lemon combined with a buttery wheat aroma. A very buttery pumpkin flavor and a toasty malt. An altogether complex and tasty flavor. Palate is buttery as well. The beer rebounded nicely from the pallid appearance. Overall, this beer outperforms many highly regarded British counterparts. No need to look overseas for a fine amber ale. jcp23 (42), Duluth, Georgia, USA Aug 12, 2008 Bottle into shaker. Fresh, mild, malty aroma. Classic, deep, clear amber color with small off-white head and some sparse, spotty lacing. Nicely rich, roasted malty flavor. Notes of wood, faint spice, and chocolate. Clean, crisp hop character making for a satisfying finish. Smooth and easy drinking quality. Solid, if not spectacular brew. Enjoyable. changeup45 (557), Orlando, Florida, USA Aug 10, 2008 Deep amber colored with a thin head and some spotty lacing. Aroma is malty, a bit toasty, with subtle hints of fruit. Sweet, roasted malty and fruity flavors up front with light traces of hops and bitterness on the back end but it does finish a little weak. Pretty good but not great. SuperDave70 (717), Arizona, USA Aug 10, 2008 Clear amber pour with a tight foamy head that lasts. Sweet caramel malt and fruit aroma, with some citrus hops notes as well. Flavor is much the same, with a good hop bite on the finish. Light and refreshing on the palate. A nice session amber.
