Ruby colored with a creamy head, this beer exudes a heavy malt aroma for an amber. Again, the malting is the predominant mouth feel of the body--lending this amber a scotch-like quality. Overall, very drinkable, but much heavier than one would expect for an amber.

I had a friend bring me one of these from the NW. I was very pleased with this one. Looks great and the taste is complex and pleasing.

UPDATED: MAR 3, 2004 ReRate-well, this used to be my fav beer when i started on this site, but i must admit, it doens't hold up as much as i would have liked it to. The flavors are there, but the body is weak. more like a brown than an amber ale(nuttyness and earthy hops). good toasty malts, but the body is just to thin to be top notch. maybe they changed the formula for this brew when they changed labels.
my fav beer of the pacific northwest by far!!!! great amber ale with a very sweet hop finish that i just love!! I just wish they had it here in Illinois. I drank alot of this while i was at Mt Rainier over the summer working. Claimed to be 'the pacific northwest's best selling amber ale'-i can sure see why

I think temperature is the key to this beer, let it warm a bit and the flavors come out.

I must say I like Amber’s, this tastes more like a Pale I found.

At first aroma and taste this one reminded me of the Full Sail Pale Ale. Really...it did. I thought it was an amber version of the Pale. As it warmed a bit, though, the malty aroma and taste appeared and superceded the initial familiar fruitiness. The body and flavor weren’t nearly as pronounced as with other Ambers I’ve tried, but still noticeable. I greatly enjoy the entire Full Sail line, and this one is no exception, it just wasn’t quite what I expected.

Fruity aroma indeed. Bitter, short-lived hop front followed by a characteristic toasted malt mid. Mixed malty sweet, hop-essenced finish. A nice, dark amber. Round 2 please!
