3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: MAY 7, 2003 An Amber with flavor. Rich malt dominates with out excessive sweetness. The hop aroma is wonderful but not over done, this is a amber not an IPA

Very nice amber. Deep amber in color. Sweet malty nose with a nice off-white head. Starts sweet and stays sweets. Nice hopped finish with a Cascade spiciness. This was very drinkable.

3.6 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
UPDATED: AUG 18, 2003 Poored a deep amber red with a good amount of head. Smells of malt! Flavor has lots of caramel and toffee and a sweet aftertaste. Not too bitter. Average amber ale.

3.3 AROMA 6/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 14/20
Real dark for an amber, decent lace. Loaded with malts, some pleasant sweetness on finish. pretty good stuff, I could drink at least a sixer if i had to get all the same in it.

3.5 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
UPDATED: MAR 8, 2003 (7Mar2003--12oz.bottle--re A bit less impressive under scrutiny. Yes, nice use of specialty hops. Underbittered. A bit thin in the mouth. Heavy, but not overpowering, diacetyl presence.
(13Dec2002-bottle) Fairly coarse, non-lacy, not terribly effervescent carbonation.
Rich malty aroma, unusually deep red color.
Flavor is maltier than bitter, fairly sweet,
with pleasantly full, though not 'meaty' body,
and the enjoyable finish of aromatic hops.
The 6% ABV is hidden surprisingly well. Beer
finishes refreshingly clean. Usually better
on tap than in bottles--more lively
carbonation and I dare say more hop
presence. Style points given for breaking with
common thinking and adding chocolate malt. Same to Abita Turbo Dog!

This was my favorite on our recent Western excursion - taste like the best hearty, rich grain and nut breads with a pleasant drying hops finish. Absolutely beautiful, too - a deep reddish orange that hints at the earthiness of the brew itself. Yumm!

Beautiful dark garnet color...it glows! Nice off-white head..thick and creamy. The aroma wa full of citrus, floral, and malty sweet tones. The flavor was pure malt sweetness. The mouthfeel was just right...creamy and thick, yet crisp enough to keep you coming back for another drink. This is one of my new favorite amber ales.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Moderate, sweet roasted malt aroma, with light bitter notes. Reddish brown with light brown head...not much lace. Head mostly diminishes. Flavor is very well balanced, with moderate malt and hops characteristics evident.
