The best selling Amber in the Northwest. Itís a great tasting malty sweet beer that has rich amber hue, a full body, and a spicy floral hop finish. This American style amber ale is brewed with: 2-row Pale, Crystal and Chocolate malts and is hopped with Mt. Hood and Cascade hops

Overall, a quality Amber ale - great full aroma, nice and floral with some citrus notes. Pours amber orange (of course) with a frothy head. The taste is slightly disappointing - kind of tinny not as sweet as Iíd like with an amber. Palate was quite full and creamy, above average. Overall, this is a decent Amber, but the taste is what brings the overall score down, quite decent.

12-ounce bottles. A bit darker than most ambers. Amber ales tend to be a little boring, and this one doesnít have any standout qualities, but not bad at all.

Ar- subtle hop aroma here, getting some cantaloupe, hints of oranges, low malt aroma, Ap- clear, deep Amber, almost brown. Short head doesn't hang around long. Fl- malt sweetness throughout with a hint of pie crust, well balanced hops give some citrus pine and resinous notes finishes mildly bitter. Mf- med to full bodied, nicely carbonated, dry toward the end Ov- good beer just unimpressed I guess. Would like more distinct malt flavors. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Was a full bodied Amber, a little hoppier than I expected with a bitter finish. Looked lovely though!

Bottle at home from trader Joeís. Mid amber copper coloured pour with a thin greyish head. Aroma is caramel, apple, burnt toffee, light mineral, toasted bead. Malty nose. Flavour is cloying sweet toffee malts, toffee apple, mineral, nutty, hay. Palate is sweet, medium light, mineral, moderate carbonation. Too sweet.

There are certain styles that I am rarely impressed by. There are also a few breweries who seldom impress me as well. I guess Full Sail Amber Ale was doomed from the start with me since itís a style I rarely enjoy by a brewery I rarely enjoy. And itís not that this is a terrible beer by any means, just that itís not nearly the good one it should be.

I poured a 12oz bottle into a tumbler. It had an enjoy by date of 1/19/16 and cost $1.66 ($0.14 per ounce).

Appearance: Definitely a beautiful deep amber/magenta red hue. Body is mostly clear with plenty of visible carbonation. Pours to a thumb-width, white foamy head which retains well but doesnít lace the glass.

Smell: Amber malts for sure, though they are mild. A bit of a floral scent, but equally mild. Seems to smell a little buttery, too.

Taste: If you go over a list of amber ale characteristics, this beer would seem to live up to every check point on the list. Yes, thereís light malty sweetness and a bit of floral or piney hop flavor and bitterness Ė but again, itís quite mild. This bottle probably has some age on it, but itís still well within its freshness window. Additionally, there does seem to be a faint buttery flavor or maybe even yellow lollipop. Itís not bad, in fact, both are in line with the base palette so as not to be distracting (or even discernable by less nuanced palates). Thereís even some nutty flavor as well, which is nice. Still, this beer could use a little more of pretty much everything.

Drinkability: I always get frustrated when a beer doesnít live up to its potential. At 6% ABV, Full Sail Amber Ale should be a fairly big-bodied and complex brew; yet it drinks like something lighter and more simplistic. The mouthfeel is a bit thin, wet, and flat. The hops do linger, but leave a dry, pasty sensation. This would be fine with a meal thatís not too intensely flavored.

Poured an amber color with aromas of todfee, malt, light earth and pine. Flavors match the aromas big malt backbone with caramel and toffee with subtle pine. Decent amber ale but wouldnít actively seek it out.

I bought this (without wifi access to ratebeer) thinking it was their elusive polotmovy, one of the few styles I havenít tried. Ooops. Was pleasantly surprised it was at least a highly rated amber. However, I donít see why itís so highly rated. Red amber body, white head, spotty lacing, looks nice. Sweet fruity malt aroma, but rather faint. Taste is sweet, fruity, malty, donít get much hops at all in this. Overall, a pretty average amber.
