mgumby10 (1844), Jupiter, Florida, USA Dec 28, 2007 Courtesy CaptainCougar. Thanks so much Tom for sharing this brew, which Ive wanted to try forever. Pours black like oil, with pretty much no head whatsoever. smells of smooth bourbon and dark chocolate. Pretty tantalyzing. Rich, with a little touch of roast as well. The bourbon is really blended well, and has seemingly settled down since this bottle was about 2 years old. It has really meshed well together, the flavors were really up in your face and made the taste buds dance and sing. Awesome brew! franksnbeans (265), Columbus, Maryland, USA Dec 23, 2007 Oh baby, this glugs out thick like sludge opaque black with a minimal ring of tan head. Moreso has legs than lace, what a beauty. Smell the bourbon laced vanilla notes along with chocolate. You get a rainbow of taste with a start of big sweet chocolate malt, then non boozy bourbon washes it away, then a little dark fruit covered by vanilla chocolate bourbon if such an animal exists. A warming full mouthfeel that commands you enjoy a delectable sip at a time. An apartif beer for the connoiseur.
xmarcnolanx (789), Kirkwood, Missouri, USA Dec 2, 2007 Aroma is coffee and roasty and slightly vanilla.
Soda-like fizziness with a creamy head.
Taste is cream, bitter, slightly buttery vanilla finish. Kind of thin for an imperial stout.
Just eh. SuzyGreenberg (1318), Seattle, Washington, USA Nov 27, 2007 22 oz. bottle (tasting hosted by after4ever) - didn’t even know this beer existed before tonight; pours black with slight tan head; thick and rich aromas of sweet sugar and roasted malts; flavors equally sweet like candy and smooth; one of the best full sail beers i’ve ever had kbjames (242), Utah, USA Oct 24, 2007 This is a really good beer and one of Full sails best efforts. If you can get your hands on it, don’t pass it up. IslandHaole (1035), Onna-Son, Okinawa-Ken, Japan Oct 16, 2007 Color of used motor oil with a light brown head. Rich malty scent, molasses, strong coffee, whiskey and a bit of hard to define musty funkyness.
Sweet thick & rich flavors, jam packed with malts, roasty, alcohol warms all the way down, a rather dry oak finish, long warm mild burn. I wish it was snowing! bozoNZ (481), Christchurch, New Zealand Sep 23, 2007 SOBA AGM tasting. Poured pitch black with hints of a head. Bourbon cask/aged wood aromas as it warms nicely. Rich sweet woody flavours with some faint toast and dark chocolate notes. A slight astringent bitter finish. greig (169), Hamilton, New Zealand Sep 19, 2007 Tasted at the first ever SOBA AGM in Wellington. Impenetrably black with little head though I got the remnants of the bottle so hard to tell. Raisiny and woody aromas. Sweet and smooth in the mouth. So many flavours working together, very little bourbon, surprisingly, and a strange sweetish resiny flavour I have never tasted before and can’t quite place.
