yalnikim (776), Wellington, New Zealand Sep 16, 2007 Tasted 15/09/2007. 750ml bottle, steward leftovers from BrewNZ and shared with SOBA members at our AGM. Pours an inky black with a very loose dark tan head. Bourbon, vanilla, wood and burnt sugar on the nose. Super sweet in the mouth, luscious silky mouthfeel with warming oak, roasted notes, bitter chocolate and a "greenish" note. Becomes medicinal in the middle and at the finish. Very light carbonation. Hokey pokey on the palate. Doesn’t quite hit the top marks for me, though it did pick up gold at BrewNZ. IrishBoy (2685), Bakersfield, California, USA Aug 29, 2007 Sample from Odeed who got it from flacoalto; Nose of bourbon and dark chocolate (smells like the 80% cacao); clear dark cherry-brown with a medium cinnamon colored head; flavor of bittersweet chocolate, vanilla, and a much subdued bourbon than the nose would make you anticipate. Odeed (1666), Bakersfield, California, USA Aug 29, 2007 (bottle from flacoalto, thanks man!)black body with reddish brown highlights.nice deep brown head that leaves some webbing.heavy oak and bourbon nose with hints of chocolate.the flavor is nothing short of awesome.brown sugar, chocolate chip cookies, fudge, cocoa, oatmeal, chocolate, coffee, roasted malt, bourbon, and vanilla.the mouthfeel was full and the palate was long lasting. DougShoemaker (2855), Toronto, Canada Aug 26, 2007 Smokey, whiskey and peaty aromas, deepest brown, tiny tan head. Flavour is coffee and booze, and the barrel is pronounced. A bit harsh on the tongue, alcohol is also prevalent. Very good. Thanks blankboy. decaturstevo (1971), decatur, Tennessee, USA Aug 2, 2007 RBSG 07. Almost black pour. The nose is almost all BB. A strong aroma of bourbon dominates with a hint of coffee and chocolate as well. The flavor follows suit with the nose. Mouthfeel is solid a very good beer. Immy (1912), Virginia Beach, Virginia, USA Jul 30, 2007 RBSG 2007 Grand Tasting. 2006 vintage. Near black with a beige head. Coffe and dark fruit nose, roasty malt and bourbon. Light coffee and dark fruit flavors, vanilla notes, some bourbon. Mildly roasty. WISEGUY572 (1244), Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, USA Jul 19, 2007 It’s not really quite as good as my ndividual rating numbers would suggest, but it’s great. Black pour with a huge tan head. Nose of chocolate and hops and malts and alcohol. Taste of chocolate and malts and sweet dried fruit and bourbon and bitter espresso and hops with a huge finish. Big in the mouth. Not quite the sum of its individual parts but just great. hellomynameis (794), Mayer, Minnesota, USA Jul 7, 2007 Reminded me of GL BA Blackout stout. It had a olive taste to it, salty and strange. It was pretty good though. A bit of chocolate in there for sure as well as a bit of alcohol.
