Big ups to douglas88 for sending this one on. Flavor and aroma is dominated by a vanilla aspect that I can only imagine was imparted by the lovely barrel ageing this beer went through. A nice roasty malt and chocolate is working in the flavor background. A creamy texture lets this one go down smooth and a slight tough of bourbon alcohol on the finish is just enough to be nice.

Bottle. [thank you, after4ever]
Pours completely black with a small, creamy, brown head. Fizzes into a thin film rather quickly. Aroma is sweet, lots of bourbon. Oak tannins, roasted malts, chocolate, coffee. Medium to low carbonation, lovely velvety and oily mouthfeel. Flavour is very bourbon-centred. Dry, ashy, roasted malts. Dark chocolate and light coffee notes. Long, lingering, bitter and rather ashy finish. It is good, but there are certainly better Imperial Stouts out there.

Bottle sample shared by shigadeyo. Poured black color with an average frothy brown head that mostly lasted with excellent lacing. Moderate to heavy roasted malt, chocolate, woody bourbon alcohol aroma. Medium to full body with a smooth texture and flat carbonation. Medium to heavy roasted malt and whiskey flavor with a medium to heavy bittersweet smooth finish of moderate to long duration. Another standout brew.

Brewmaster Reserve 2009

9/17/2009: Full Sail Black Gold Imperial Stout... Aroma: Vanilla and softly roasted malts, a touch of chocolate, plenty of bourbon! Appearance: Opaque black with a quickly dissipating ivory head. Flavor: Dark fruits at first which quickly turns to semi-sweet chocolate and lots of vanilla and BOURBON galore in the dry. Palate: Medium-full, average palate, soft mouthfeel. Overall: The bourbon definitely pops out in the finish and builds with each; not quite as rich or big as I had hoped, but still darn good.

1 pt. 6 fuild ounce bottle ( Alc. 10.% by Vol.) from bitbucket. Thank you, Bob! Rating #298 for this beer.

[9/5/08] Bottle sample during LCRBM at Kulminator in Antwerp. Black-colored with a brown head. Aroma of whiskey, chocolate, some espresso, oak, dark fruits and alcohol. Sweet alcoholic flavor of chocolate, oak and whiskey. Full-bodied. A bit over the top.

bomber from a trade. pours black with a tan head, thin around the edges. aroma of sea salt, charred barrel, bourbon, black malts. the flavour starts with caramel and choco malt, then the vanilla wood hits, then the char, finishes salty. decent but not the best bourbon stout ive had.

Bottle thanks to Todd (I think). Pours near black with tan head. Smells like wood, bourbon, roast chocolate and coffee notes. Some vanilla. Not overpowering. Very good.

Pours a dark black allowing light with a one finger light tan head. The nose shows some tobacco, wood, bourbon, some alcohol, mild notes of chocolate and coffee. Flavor is bourbon and oak, some vanillins, tanic, great wood character but not much stout. Palate is a tad thin with some vanillins.
