Malt beverage aged in oak bourbon barrels.
A hearty brew that is black as night with a strong roasted malt character and a full body. After its initial release in January 2010, our Imperial Stout was aged for a full year in Bourbon casks from Kentucky. This extended aging presents hints vanilla and oak. This, combined with the robust character of the Imperial Stout make for a smooth, wonderful taste experience. A hearty cellar beer. Very Limited Availability - 22oz Bottles and Draught. Black Gold was named one of "the best" barrel aged beers in the US by Men’s Journal and took home a silver medal at the 2006 Great American Beer Festival® in the Wood and Barrel Aged Strong beer category).

Note: In 2011 went from 10.5% to 11.4%.
2013 - 9.6% ABV.

65cl, Vintage 2014, at 9.84%Vol, as Full Sail Imperial Stout ’Bourbon Barrel Aged’, exclusive American brew, thx alot to Hans for bringing this over!, complex Stout, alcoholic/roasted and slightly woody/spicy/sweet, heavy, yet balanced, hazy, small head, very good brew, yet expensive!

22 oz Bomber. Tasted on 10/11/14. Beer from Total Wine Dallas, TX. Beer pours to a black rich color with a strong note of bourbon. The bourbon is a little overwhelming to me & isn't as balanced as I would like in a bourbon stout. I will cellar this one for a year or two and see how it is then. ---Rated via Beer Buddy for iPhone

Black pour with almost no head. Oak, vanilla, and bourbon on the aroma. Similar in taste with the bourbon starting very subtle and slowly comes in stonger but still smooth.

Nearly black pour, no head. Aromas of marshmallow, oak, roast, light vanilla. Taste is semi dry and bitter. Not hot at all. Bourbon character is present but kept in check. Some light hoppy notes. Thin mouthfeel. Low carb, highly chuggable. Finished with toasted marshmallow and some barrel notes. Decent, but pricey for what it is.

"near black pour, heavy aroma of chocolate, bourbon and licorice. thin feel, but super smooth. Full Sail barreled beers seem to lack depth of the elite ones, but this is still pretty dang tasty. better than the barreled impy porter (which fell short of the "regular" version). sweet boozy flavor w/o being hot."

Wel done but not as good as I had hoped. Strong aroma of molasses and bourbon. Pours very dark with a brown perimeter and very small head. Thick and oily with definite weight. This was the 2013 version so it may have been less boozy than the others. Burnt sugar, roasted malt, bitter chocolate and bourbon were the predominant flavors. Good but average for this type of imperial stout.
