| 3.8 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Jun 1, 2009 Bottle. Aroma quite boozy with some alcohol-soaked fruits. Flavor gets much richer than the nose indicated with the chocolate and roasted malt notes one would expect from such a beer. Tasty. SoLan (1427), Orlando, Florida, USA
| 4.3 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 9/10 | 4/5 | 9/10 | 4/5 | 17/20 | Apr 22, 2006 Thanks to Harlequinn for the trade. I like the commercial decription. Black. Large, dense, frothy brown head settles quickly leaving some nice lacing behind. Nose: roasty vanilla, oak, licorice, vanilla cream, smores, burnt malt, subtle coffee, and alcohol. Flavor: smores, vanilla, oak, whiskey, roasty malt, bittersweet chocolate, and an alcohol laden anise finish. Burnt smores aftertaste. Full, rich, smooth body; livened up a bit by the alcohol burn. Great imperial, should be even better with few years of age. nickd717 (1415), Palo Alto, California, USA
| 4 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 8/10 | 4/5 | 8/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Aug 13, 2009 Bottle shared at a BeerAdvocate tasting. Jet black in color with a light brown head. Aroma is roast, bourbon, and chocolate. Flavor is roast, bourbon, chocolate, oak, and alcohol. Creamy on the palate with soft carbonation. ABV a little more present than I’d like maybe, but it’s a very good RIS overall regardless. j12601 (1412), Poughkeepsie, New York, USA
| 3.5 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 6/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 3/5 | 16/20 | May 31, 2009 Bottle at PilsnerPeter’s Spring Gathering. Pours a nice black with a light tan head. Isopropyl mostly on the nose, with some roast, and a light bourbon note, but mostly rubbing alcohol. Medium bodied and roasty, with more roast coming through on a light bitter finish. I was expecting more. SuzyGreenberg (1401), Seattle, Washington, USA

| 3.7 | Aroma | Appearance | Flavor | Palate | Overall | | 7/10 | 3/5 | 7/10 | 4/5 | 16/20 | Apr 2, 2008 Updated: Apr 10, 200822oz bottle. 2006. Nice, but fairly run of the mill BA Impy aroma. Dark chocolate malt, vanilla, charred wood, brown sugar and alcohol on the nose. Pours a fairly dark brown with a quickly disappearing white head leaving a nearly lifeless looking pour. Black liquorice, bitter chocolate malt, toasted vanilla, brown sugar, a hint of soy, smoke and a touch of booze on the tongue. Lightly carbonated and silky on the tongue. A good beer, but far from spectacular. Thanks a ton for this most generous bonus Steven! DragonStout (1386), Pataskala, Ohio, USA
