Nice presentation on this one, love the black and gold label. Very nice looking ale dark dark mahogany almost black with a loveklly bubbly brown head. Aroma is nice and very "oaky", hints of dark fruits. Also picking up aromas akin to Ovaltine for some reason..whatever its very pleasing. Taste is semi sweet and woody to begin, dark fruits . especially raisins, then the bourbon comes in loud and clear..it is slightly warming and comforting. Very nice almost like having a good quality whisky in a stout..slight over ripe banana and vanilla notes . Great mouthfeel very thick and coating but not cloying in anyway..nice long warming after glow in the throat and chest. I would like to say I could drink a bunch of these..but to be honest one is enough..it satisfies..a great beer.

GABF 2006. Roasty, chocolate, oak nose. Roast, bourbon, oak, and chocolate flavor. Too much bourbon.

Thanks to Scott ( OhioDad ) for the bomber. I’ve been sitting on this for several months and just couldn’t hold off any longer. <!-- br --> I sat with my nose in my snifter for almost 10 minutes with this one! wonderful aroma of bourbon, chocolate, vanilla and some licorice. very dark black on the pour with just a delicate bit of lace chasing its way down the entire glass. flavor is more balanced than the aroma would suggest. while the bourbon is certainly present, it is not dominate over the chocolate, vanilla, dark fruits, oak or the hint of smoke. like the regular Black Gold, this one is a little thin in body. to me, this one has some similiarities to the first batch of CW Brewers Reserve Bourbon Barrel Stout. damn fine stout, thanks Scott.

My first beer from them, and I am impressed. Pours black with a thin tan head. Aroma of bourbon, wood, chocolate, and a little vanilla. Thick sweet body. Vanilla and bourbon in the flavor. The bourbon really has some kick, but is somehow balanced. Fantastic brew.

2009 bottle. Pours a deep black with a small burnt brown head. Aroma of vanilla, bourbon, oak, chocolate, coffee. Flavor is bourbon, vanilla, oak, brown sugar, chocolate, molasses, licorice. Has an awesome mouthfeel and isn’t too cloyingly sweet like a lot of big stouts are. This is a great BA stout, I really enjoyed it.

Courtesy of Degarth. Black pour, thin tan head. Coconut bigtime, with chocolate, cocoa sweetness, slight coffee, but then the bourbon flavor takes it over and really killed this beer for me, very different than any imperial I’ve ever had, but the bourbon just didn’t taste good to me at all and took away the other flavors.

Color of used motor oil with a light brown head. Rich malty scent, molasses, strong coffee, whiskey and a bit of hard to define musty funkyness. Sweet thick & rich flavors, jam packed with malts, roasty, alcohol warms all the way down, a rather dry oak finish, long warm mild burn. I wish it was snowing!

On Tap. Pours black with a tan head. Chocolate aromas with tons of bourbon. Roasted malts with chococolate and bourbon notes. A very well done beer with a nice mouth feel.
