3.5 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 3/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 14/20
I wasn’t sure about this beer after reading the last few reviews. Very hard to get bottle. Pours black with a brown foam that fades to nothing. Nice aroma of bourbon, vanilla, and toasted malts. Body is not as full as I expected. Smoke and ash finishes dry with notes of licorice and stone. A good beer, but one of my lowest rated barrel aged Imperial’s.

3.8 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 15/20
(bottle - 22 oz - 2013 vintage) Rating #3400. Dark black pour with a tan head. Lots of sweet vanilla notes and bourbon in the aroma with some very light roast under it. Roasted malts at the start with a big hint of sweet vanilla and bourbon smoothness at the middle. Lots of the wood and bourbon notes at the finish with a light aftertaste of roasted malts and vanilla.

4.1 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Rich and deep with the aroma of a heady bourbon, this Imperial Stout is as roasty as they can come without smelling blackened as well. The body is not heavy; rather, its burnt-toast hued foam has remained very thin and unsubstantial from pour to finish. The liquid itself, although dark and opaque is actually quite thin and flat. I do experience a nice vanilla coming through as an afterward to the roasted malts and bourbon/coffee delight. I taste a pleasant and lingering "liqueur" coffee flavor as I wait to clear my palate for the next brew...
I like it.

3.8 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bomber of 2014 Vintage (9.84% ABV). Black tar pour topped with a healthy layer of mocha foam. Strong notes of dark chocolate syrup, molasses and charred malt upfront along with some coffee, vanilla and toasted oak around the edges. Flavor opens with a heavy dose of bourbon, roasted malt and bittersweet chocolate with a bit of espresso, caramel and Kahlúa toward the end. Bourbon’s a bit overpowering at times but overall this is a solid intro to BBA Imperial Stouts.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 16/20
Bottle. Pours jet black -- no light getting through this at all -- with a high, creamy, cinnamon-colored head. Nose is coffee, chocolate, oyster sauce, beef stock, bourbon, vanilla, and cinnamon; quite a selection, but it’s all harmonious. Sweet up front, with vanilla and cream; after that, it’s bourbon-laced strong coffee, the kind of thing you want to warm you up on a cold night. Some chocolate and savory notes remain as well. Mouthfeel is rich and creamy-solid. Finish is long, a little hot, and extremely aromatic. Very, very good.

4 AROMA 8/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 7/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 17/20
Pours a thick black body with a small short lasting tan head from 1pt 6floz bottle. Aroma was chocolate fudge, bourbon, and a bit of molasses. Taste was astounding - of course strong bourbon, chocolate, vanilla, and roasty malt. As the warmth of the bourbon receded, the oak and vanilla notes became pronounce. The palate was rich, creamy, and very light carbonation. The finish was lightly sweet, dark chocolate, and the lingering oak. Marvelous.

Bomber. Jet black pour with a dense beige head. Crazy good aroma of bourbon and wood. Palate is smooth but not as dense as one might think for the style or based on appearance. Delicious beer, and great value at 12 bucks a bomber!!

3.3 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 4/5 TASTE 6/10 PALATE 3/5 OVERALL 13/20
Bottle shared by MrBarleywine, thanks for the opportunity!
solid black color with a smallish tan head that dissipates quickly. Aromas of roasted grains, coffee and hints of chocolate with a mild earthiness to counter. The flavor is a sweet malty roasted affair with bits of coffee and chocolate and just a touch of earth and light fruitiness. Medium to thin body with a moderate level of carbonation. Decent enough beer, but couldn’t hold up to some of the other brews that we had Saturday night!

3.9 AROMA 7/10 APPEARANCE 5/5 TASTE 8/10 PALATE 4/5 OVERALL 15/20
651 ml. bottle. Vintage 2013. Pours a medium, tiny bubbled, well retained beige head, with slight lacing, over a blackish brown (SRM 35) body.....nose is chocolate, light cocoa, plum, raisin, treacle from the malts, whiskey, wood from the barrel, light herbal notes from the hops......taste is medium sweet with chocolate, cocoa, mild dried fruits including plum, whiskey, light vanilla, hints of tobacco, finishing with moderate spicy hop bitterness.....mouth feel, medium heavy body, sticky, alcohol warmth present, carbonation makes a creamy mouthful with light acid. This is a rich, sweet, malt dominated, complex beer. It is quite soft in many notes, with the barrel deftly handled so that it adds complexity without being too dominant. BJCP 9/3/15/4/7

Amazing beer! Walks the line between liquor and beer. When I popped open the bottle the fragrance of booze is intense. Like someone poured a bottle of mash whiskey into it. The hue is a dark coffee. Light head. The booze is intense. It is full bodied with a bitter wash down. It seems to be the trend for brewers to barrel age their beers. Overall an all around solid beer.
